Are you passionate about turning complex business requirements into trusted, high-quality data solutions?

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join their growing Credit Access Data team in Stellenbosch.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping the organisation's data warehouse and data architecture, supporting the development of innovative credit products and enabling smarter decisions across product development, credit risk, pricing and client experience.

You will work closely with senior business stakeholders, data developers and QA teams to translate business needs into actionable data solutions. Beyond delivery, you will help drive data quality, governance and best practices while leading a Community of Practice to strengthen data capabilities across the organisation.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Define data structures, sourcing and storage strategies to support trusted, reusable data across the business.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into technical data specifications.
  • Develop user stories, acceptance criteria and detailed documentation.
  • Coordinate delivery across data development and QA teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Design and lead test plans, validate data transformation logic and manage defect resolution.
  • Drive data quality, governance and data management practices.
  • Collaborate with data developers to define KPIs, metrics and dashboard requirements.
  • Lead a Data Community of Practice, promoting knowledge sharing and consistent standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data capabilities and quantify the business value delivered through data.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5–10 years' experience in Business Analysis and Data Analysis within complex data environments.
  • At least 5 years' experience working cross-functionally and driving data capability initiatives.
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical specifications and coordinating end-to-end delivery.
  • Experience in banking, telecommunications or financial services will be advantageous.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong SQL skills, including data validation, reconciliation and transformation logic.
  • Solid understanding of dimensional data modelling, including Star and Snowflake schemas, fact and dimension tables.
  • Ability to interpret and contribute to conceptual and logical data models.
  • Experience with metadata management, documentation and data traceability.
  • Understanding of Data Warehousing and Lakehouse architectures, data ingestion, ETL processes and data marts.
  • Knowledge of dashboards, reporting, advanced analytics and predictive modelling.

Business & Delivery Skills

  • Strong understanding of data governance and data management principles.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and project management.
  • Ability to develop and manage user stories, acceptance criteria and test plans.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional facilitation skills.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to translate data initiatives into measurable business value.
  • Experience leading or facilitating a Community of Practice.
