The opportunity

Delaware North Australia is hiring a full-time Manager, Sales to join our team at the Victoria Racing Club (VRC), based at the iconic Flemington Racecourse. This is an exciting opportunity to play a lead role in our new partnership with VRC, driving year-round non-race day sales across one of Australia’s most recognised event destinations.

This is more than a sales role, it is a chance to help shape a new commercial chapter for VRC and Delaware North. You’ll have the opportunity to build something meaningful from the ground up, represent an iconic venue, and make a measurable impact on revenue growth from day one.

What you will do?

You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities, nurturing client relationships and turning enquiries into confirmed business through confident, consultative and relationship-led selling.

  • Lead and execute the non-race day sales strategy for Flemington Racecourse
  • Proactively identify, pursue and secure new business opportunities across corporate, social and premium event markets
  • Convert inbound enquiries and qualified leads into confirmed revenue through timely follow-up, tailored proposals and strong commercial discipline
  • Build and manage a high-quality sales pipeline, with a focus on long-term growth and repeat business
  • Develop trusted relationships with corporate clients, event organisers, agencies and key industry partners
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals, pitches and commercial recommendations
  • Lead contract negotiations and support a seamless transition from sale to event delivery
  • Use CRM systems to track activity, maintain pipeline accuracy and support sales reporting
  • Represent Delaware North and VRC at industry events, client meetings and networking opportunities

More about you

  • Proven experience in sales leadership, event sales, venue sales, catering sales, hospitality sales or a related commercial environment
  • A strong record of generating new business, converting leads and achieving revenue targets
  • Confidence building relationships with senior stakeholders, corporate clients and premium event customers
  • Commercial acumen, negotiation capability and the ability to tailor solutions to client needs
  • Experience using CRM or event management systems; EBMS experience will be highly regarded
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create high-quality proposals and presentations
  • A proactive, resilient and outcomes-focused approach, with energy for building a growing business
