About the Role
We are looking for a Business Development Manager – New Vertical based in Rome.
As a BDM, you will play a key role in expanding Deliveroo's New Vertical business by identifying, acquiring, and launching new retail partners across your territory. You will own the full sales cycle — from prospecting and relationship building to negotiation and contract signing — helping to grow Deliveroo's presence in your local market.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Account Management, Operations, Marketing, and the Onboarding team to ensure partners are successfully activated and positioned for long-term success. This is a highly entrepreneurial role, requiring strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a passion for building new business opportunities.
Success in this role will be measured by your ability to grow partner selection, increase market coverage, and contribute to the overall growth of Deliveroo's business.
What You'll Be Doing
- Identify, prospect, and acquire new Grocery partners within your assigned territory, with a focus on independent retailers and local chains.
- Own the full sales cycle, from lead generation and initial outreach to negotiation, contract signing, and launch.
- Build strong relationships with business owners and key decision-makers, becoming a trusted partner and advisor.
- Collaborate with Onboarding, Operations, Marketing, and Account Management teams to ensure smooth partner activation and successful launches.
- Track and manage your sales pipeline, ensuring consistent delivery against acquisition and growth targets
- Act as a local ambassador for Deliveroo, strengthening brand presence and credibility within the retail community
Our humble expectations
- Strong drive and enthusiasm for sales and business development — you are comfortable reaching out to new contacts and building relationships from scratch.
- Confidence in dealing with partners and customers across all channels: in person mainly, by phone
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills — you can explain complex value propositions clearly and handle objections with empathy and conviction.
- A genuine curiosity about the Italian food and grocery market — knowledge of the local independent retail landscape is a significant plus.
- Organised and self-directed: you are comfortable managing your own pipeline and priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Fluency in Italian and a good command of English

- Being familiar with Salesforce
- Have experience with the food industry

Compensation
- National Collective Agreement (CBA): CCNL Commercio e Terziario
- Classification Level: Livello 4
The total target compensation (OTE: On-Target Earnings) for this role is €35,200 – €44,000 gross per year, of which the base salary range is €17,200 – €26,000. The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed above and is determined based on a number of job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
This position is not eligible for consideration for an equity/RSU grant.

The successful candidate's starting total target compensation (On-Target Earnings) for this role will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on a number of job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. This compensation is composed of a percentage based split between base salary and variable pay (where the base salary represents a percentage of the total range below. Eligible employees may earn variable compensation if they meet 100% of their performance targets. Actual earnings may be higher if targets are exceeded or lower if targets are not fully met.

€35.200—€44.000 EUR
