Job Description

Join us as an Industrial Design Intern on the Enterprise Experience Design team in Round Rock, TX, to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact.

Dell’s Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) designs the mission-critical hardware—servers, storage, and networking—that powers the global cloud and the AI revolution. Our team delivers globally aligned, best-in-class solutions that balance demanding functional engineering with world-class form, user experience, and sustainability. Here, your ideas help shape hardware that operates at massive scale.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Achieve

As an Industrial Design Intern, you will collaborate with seasoned industrial designers, mechanical engineers, and thermal architects to create reliable, serviceable, and visually compelling enterprise hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing physical concepts, modular layouts, and form factors from early research through physical prototyping and validation.
  • Explore Colors, Materials, and Finishes (CMF) tailored to enterprise customer environments.
  • Learn how engineering constraints (airflow, thermal dissipation, sheet metal fabrication, and serviceability) shape industrial design.
  • Build 3D CAD models and create photo-realistic visualizations for review with design leadership and cross-functional engineering partners.
  • Leverage both traditional design workflows and emerging generative AI tools to rapidly explore concepts and communicate ideas.

Take the First Step Towards Your Dream Career

Every Dell Technologies team member brings something unique to the table. Here’s what we are looking for with this role:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program in Industrial Design or Product Design.
  • Foundational understanding of design principles, form development, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling tools (e.g., Rhino, SolidWorks, or Creo) and visualization software (e.g., KeyShot, Adobe Creative Cloud).
  • Strong curiosity about complex engineered products and hands-on mechanical hardware.
  • Strong collaboration, detail orientation, and communication skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with parametric modeling in PTC Creo.
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) or sustainable/circular design practices.
  • Interest or practical experimentation with AI-assisted design and ideation tools.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
