Location: London, ON (On-Site) Position Summary: Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc. is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its Finance team in London, Ontario. This role is responsible for supporting the company's financial reporting, month-end and year-end close processes, financial statement preparation, audit activities, and accounting operations. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the company's financial information and will work closely with Finance, Operations and other departments to support business and financial decision-making. This is a hands-on role suited to an accounting professional who is comfortable working in a complex manufacturing environment and who can take ownership of financial reporting and accounting matters with a high degree of independence. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement.
Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled on a timely basis.
Prepare and review account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments.
Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances against budget, prior periods and expectations.
Prepare management reporting and financial analysis to support business decision-making.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, company policies and Group reporting requirements.
Audit & Compliance.
Work with external auditors to facilitate the timely completion of audit procedures.
Support internal control activities and identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes and controls.
Assist with tax, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements as required.
General Accounting
Oversee and review general ledger activities and ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records.
Perform detailed analysis of balance sheet accounts and ensure timely resolution of reconciling items.
Review accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, inventory and other key accounting areas.
Monitor intercompany transactions and reconciliations with related Group entities.
Assist with foreign currency accounting and other complex accounting transactions as required.
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
Support accounting and financial reporting related to manufacturing operations, inventory and production costs.
Analyze inventory balances, movements, provisions and valuation.
Assist with standard costing, manufacturing variances and cost analysis.
Work closely with Operations and Supply Chain to understand and explain production and inventory variances.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
Prepare and analyze monthly cash flow reporting.
Monitor working capital, including accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory.
Identify significant cash flow movements and provide explanations to management.
Business Partnership & Process Improvement
Partner with Finance and operational teams to improve financial processes, reporting and controls.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation and accuracy within accounting processes.
Provide support and backup to other members of the Finance team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
CPA designation or CPA in progress is strongly preferred.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, aerospace, automotive or other complex industrial environment.
Strong experience preparing and analyzing P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statements.
Solid understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles.
Experience with external audits and working directly with auditors.
Experience with inventory and cost accounting is highly desirable.
Experience with ERP systems (Business Central preferred) and strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experience with intercompany accounting and Group reporting is an asset.
Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple deadlines and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both Finance and non-Finance teams.
