The posting

Job description

Diraq is building one of the world's leading quantum computing companies. We're solving complex problems at the intersection of science, engineering and technology, and we're doing it in an environment where priorities move quickly, opportunities emerge unexpectedly, and no one is too senior or too specialised to get stuck in.

We're looking for an Australian-qualified lawyer with 4-7 years' post-admission experience to join our Legal & Compliance team. The role will report to Diraq's Head of Legal & Compliance and will suit someone who enjoys being close to the business and working across a broad range of matters. You'll be just as comfortable negotiating a commercial agreement as you are helping shape an approach to a new partnership, supporting a research collaboration, improving internal processes or contributing to a strategic project.

You'll thrive if you're pragmatic, adaptable and commercially minded. You'll enjoy the pace and variety that comes with a growing company and take a practical approach to helping teams achieve outcomes while managing risk.

  • Australian-qualified lawyer with approximately 4-7 years' PQE.
  • Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements, either in-house or in private practice.
  • Sound commercial judgement and a practical approach to problem solving.
  • Comfortable working directly with stakeholders and managing matters independently.
  • Able to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Calm under pressure and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities can change quickly.
  • Motivated by being part of a team building something significant rather than by titles or rigid job boundaries.

Experience that would be valuable

  • Technology, software, intellectual property or research environments.
  • Defence, government or highly regulated industries.
  • High-growth technology companies, startups or scale-ups.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements, including customer, supplier, consulting, technology, partnership, research and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Working closely with stakeholders across the business to provide practical and commercially focused legal advice.
  • Identifying legal and commercial risks and developing sensible, workable solutions.
  • Supporting contract management, legal operations and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assisting with corporate, governance, compliance and strategic projects.
  • Contributing wherever required as the needs of the business evolve.

This is an opportunity to move beyond pure contract work and become a trusted adviser to a business developing technology with the potential to transform an industry. You'll have exposure to a wide variety of legal and commercial matters and the chance to make a genuine contribution as Diraq continues to grow.

Job benefits

  • Stunning central Sydney CBD office with great amenities.
  • Paid time off to volunteer for causes you care about.
  • Eligibility to participate in our equity incentive plan.
  • A dynamic, supportive, and fast-paced environment with room to grow.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge tech and the opportunity to shape how it reaches the world.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
