Job Summary This position supports Door County's child support enforcement program by conducting administrative and investigative work to ensure the establishment, modification, and enforcement of court orders. The role involves interpreting legal documents, handling sensitive financial data, and maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations. It requires effective communication, confidentiality, and adherence to procedures within a legal and regulatory environment.   Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Communicates with clients by phone and in person to gather information, answer questions, and determine appropriate action based on case details. Interprets court orders, inputs data into the case management system, and establishes financial accounts for tracking support payments. Initiates and processes income withholding orders and national medical support notices in compliance with federal timelines. Maintains detailed records of all client interactions and case-related activities in the case management system. Monitors assigned reports and data work lists to track status changes and take timely action to ensure program compliance. Drafts legal correspondence and court documents such as orders to show cause, enforcement actions, and wage assignment forms. Appears in court to provide testimony or case information as required. Assists in onboarding and training of new staff members, sharing knowledge of systems and procedures. Provides customer service and general support to internal and external stakeholders. Maintains strict confidentiality and complies with all applicable privacy laws and departmental policies.

Communication: Clearly conveys information and legal terms to clients, attorneys, and court personnel. Technical Proficiency: Efficiently uses Microsoft Office and the Wisconsin case management system for data entry and tracking. Problem Solving: Independently resolves routine issues and refers complex matters appropriately. Interpersonal Skills: Maintains professionalism and tact when interacting with diverse individuals. Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in financial data, legal documentation, and system entries. Confidentiality: Handles sensitive personal and legal information with discretion and integrity.

  Required Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent. At least one (1) year of experience in human services, accounting, or a legal office environment. Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  Preferred Education & Experience

Associate's degree in human services, accounting, or paralegal studies. Certified training in effective interviewing tactics. Experience using Wisconsin’s case management system or similar case management tools.

  Physical & Work Environment Requirements Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with extensive time spent using a computer and telephone. The role requires sitting for extended periods, occasional movement between workstations or departments, and lifting paper files or office supplies up to 10 pounds.
