Dotfile is building the AI-native Compliance Operating System for financial institutions. Our mission is to make compliance simple, safe and smart, helping financial institutions onboard customers, manage risk and operate globally.

Compliance remains one of the most manual functions in financial services. While most institutions still rely on fragmented tools and human-driven workflows, we believe AI is enabling a fundamental shift toward autonomous compliance. Our ambition is to build Level 5 Compliance: software that can gather evidence, investigate complex situations, assess risk and execute defensible decisions under defined policies.

Dotfile has grown into one of Europe’s fastest-growing compliance technology companies. Today, 100+ financial institutions across 15 countries rely on Dotfile for critical compliance operations, with a rapidly growing presence in the US.

We recently raised our Series A from leading US and European investors and software operators. We’re now entering our next chapter: investing heavily in product and AI, expanding internationally, and building the team that can make Dotfile the global standard for compliance infrastructure.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll join an AI-native engineering team where AI is central to how we design, build and ship software. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer who understands software deeply, uses AI to build better software faster, and wants to help improve how the whole team works.

You will own projects from understanding the customer problem to shipping a solution and improving it in production. Working closely with engineering and product, you will help decide what we build, how we build it, and where to invest as the platform grows.

This is a hands-on role with broad ownership. Your focus will reflect your strengths and the team’s priorities, whether that means building product experiences, developing backend services, or solving challenges across the platform. We value engineers who bring depth in their area and curiosity beyond it.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Own projects from discovery and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment and follow-up.

- Work closely with product and other engineers to understand customer needs, challenge assumptions and turn complex requirements into clear, usable software.

- Build and improve the interfaces, APIs and services that financial institutions rely on for their compliance operations.

- Make pragmatic technical decisions, balancing delivery speed with reliability, security and maintainability.

- Investigate production issues and improve performance, observability and resilience as the platform grows.

- Raise the engineering bar through knowledge sharing and improvements to how we develop and ship software.

- Contribute to the evolution of our platform as we build more AI-powered compliance capabilities.

ABOUT YOU

- You have 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of delivering and maintaining software in production.

- You understand software in depth. You bring strong fundamentals and depth in backend or full-stack development. You can reason about data, concurrency, performance and failure modes, and investigate unfamiliar systems beyond the surface.

- AI coding agents are central to how you work. You use tools such as Codex or Claude Code extensively to explore, build, test and review software. You keep experimenting with ways to make yourself more effective.

- You bring the judgment that makes AI-assisted development work. You frame problems clearly, provide useful context, challenge assumptions and verify the resulting behavior. You can explain why a solution works and take responsibility for what you ship.

- You take ownership. You can turn an ambiguous problem into a practical plan, follow through on delivery and improve the result in production. You are comfortable learning new technologies and working beyond your usual area when a problem calls for it.

- You care about the product as much as the implementation. You want to understand who you are building for, challenge requirements when needed and assess whether your work solves the original problem.

- You value simple, well-designed solutions. You know when to move quickly and when reliability, security or long-term maintenance require more care.

- You communicate clearly in English and enjoy collaborating. You explain your technical choices, welcome constructive disagreement and share what you learn with your teammates.

- You want to help shape an AI-native engineering team. You enjoy improving how software gets built, from reusable agent workflows to better testing and feedback loops, and turning your own discoveries into practices that make the whole team more effective.

Experience in B2B SaaS, fintech or compliance is a plus.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Our main language is TypeScript. Our stack includes:

- Frontend: React, Apollo GraphQL and Storybook.

- Backend: Node.js, NestJS, GraphQL and PostgreSQL.

- Infrastructure: AWS and Kubernetes.

- Development and testing: Nx, GitLab CI, Playwright.

You do not need experience with every part of our stack. We care about your engineering judgment, your ability to learn and the quality of the software you build.

OUR HIRING PROCESS

1. CTO conversation — 30-60 minutes : Discuss your background, explore the role and how our engineering team works, and answer technical questions to assess your engineering knowledge and problem-solving approach.

2. Case study — 60 minutes : Design the architecture of a project we provide, or present the architecture of a past project you led. Walk us through your reasoning, technical decisions and trade-offs.

3. Raise the bar — 30 minutes: Meet someone from Product or Solutions Consulting to discuss how you collaborate across teams, understand customer needs and approach problems together.

4. Founder discussion — 15-30 minutes: Meet our CEO to discuss Dotfile’s ambition, what motivates you and the contribution you could make.
