About you and this role Dow has an exciting job opportunity as an Emergency Services and Security (ES&S) Dispatcher. This role is located in Midland (MI). The Emergency Services and Security (ES&S) Dispatcher supports site and regional emergency preparedness, emergency communications, and security operations by receiving and prioritizing calls, dispatching appropriate response resources, monitoring critical systems, and supporting the implementation of the ES&S management system. In this role you will help protect people, property, operations, and the site’s license to operate by applying sound judgment, established procedures, and effective communication during routine and emergency situations. Responsibilities: Emergency Communications and Dispatch Operations Receive, assess, and prioritize emergency, non-emergency, and medical calls in accordance with established procedures. Gather critical information, including location, incident details, current conditions, and response needs, to support timely decision-making. Dispatch emergency response and security personnel to company-owned, leased, or supported facilities and properties. Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD), radio, telephone, and related communication systems to coordinate response activity. Monitor radio frequencies, fire and life safety alarms, and security systems to identify potential concerns and communicate relevant information. Use appropriate radio terminology, frequencies, paging methods, and communication protocols to support effective emergency response. Emergency Preparedness and Operating Discipline Complete emergency preparedness tasks in accordance with the site ES&S Preparedness Plan and applicable operating discipline requirements. Support the development, maintenance, and use of documented equipment maintenance, training, and operational check requirements. Help ensure preparedness activities are value-added and support the readiness of emergency systems, equipment, and response resources. Review task requirements, identify discrepancies, and communicate improvement opportunities related to emergency preparedness processes. Support the execution of emergency response and alternate response scenarios using established plans, procedures, and operating discipline. Partner with security personnel to support secure asset planning and related operating discipline requirements. Security Operations and Threat Awareness Coordinate with Dow’s Global Security Operations Center to detect, analyze, and communicate potential threats impacting Dow sites, businesses, and employees. Maintain situational awareness of site conditions, security systems, alarms, and communications that may affect emergencies or security response. Communicate timely and accurate information to stakeholders during routine operations, abnormal events, and emergency situations. Qualifications A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly. A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process. Preferred Qualifications Prior Emergency Services field experience (police, fire, medical, or military background) is preferred. Prior 911 Dispatching Experience is preferred. Customer Service Experience is also preferred. Your Skills Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Multi-tasking: Must be able to multitask in a high-level demanding environment. Prioritization: Operating in a high-level environment and prioritizing tasks accordingly. Technological proficiency: Demonstrate skills in operating communication devices, including phones, radios, and computer-based systems.
