Job Description

Downer is looking for a Maintenance Mechanical Tradesperson to support the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program.

This is a hands-on opportunity where your mechanical expertise will help keep production moving. You’ll maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and automated equipment, helping ensure the manufacturing environment operates safely and reliably.

Working alongside production and project teams, you’ll have the opportunity to solve practical problems, improve equipment performance and contribute to a strong safety and continuous improvement culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Keep production equipment safe, reliable and available through planned, reactive and statutory maintenance.
  • Diagnose faults and complete effective repairs across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and automated systems.
  • Respond to equipment and facility breakdowns, helping minimise disruption to production.
  • Maintain accurate inspection and maintenance records using the CMMS and support continuous improvement and 5S activities.
  • Work collaboratively with production and project teams while contributing to Downer’s Zero Harm culture.

What You Bring

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical (Fitter & Turner) or the relevant trade qualification specified for the role.
  • Practical maintenance experience gained in a manufacturing, industrial or similar environment.
  • Capability in fault finding and maintaining automated or robotic equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • A safety-first approach, confidence working with technical drawings and the ability to complete digital maintenance documentation.
  • High-risk licences such as Forklift, EWP or Crane, and further mechanical qualifications are highly regarded but not essential.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once per CV, from $25. Every application goes out with its own CV, written for that posting.
