The posting

Amsterdam or Antwerp – As a Backend Engineer within the GenAI Platform team, you help build the foundation that enables AI products across DPG Media. You design and develop scalable backend solutions that support identity, access management and platform insights for a growing portfolio of AI services. Ready to make an impact on the future of AI at DPG Media? Read on!

What will you do?

As a Backend Engineer, you take ownership of the platform capabilities that enable teams across DPG Media to securely use and manage AI products. You build backend services that unify user, access, usage and cost data while making architectural decisions that support the platform's continued growth. Your work ensures that new products and teams can be onboarded efficiently and consistently. You do this by:

  • Defining how users, roles and permissions are managed centrally and applied consistently across every product on the GenAI Platform.
  • Building backend services that collect, combine and expose usage, cost and user data for the platform portal and reporting.
  • Designing scalable platform architecture that continues to perform as the number of products grows.
  • Defining how platform resources are described so new products and teams can be added through configuration instead of custom development.

Who are we?

We are a small team that builds and operates the GenAI Platform used across DPG Media. The platform runs on Kubernetes and provides teams throughout the organisation with access to AI products, ranging from workflow automation to model hosting.

What makes you the ideal candidate?

For this role, we are looking for an experienced backend engineer who combines strong technical expertise with ownership and a pragmatic mindset. You are proactive, analytical and enjoy building scalable platform solutions. In addition, you bring:

  • Around 5 years of backend engineering experience, including designing systems yourself.
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language. We work with Go, TypeScript and Python, and you are willing to work across these technologies.
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and combining data from multiple sources into one consistent view.
  • Hands-on experience with OAuth2/OIDC, role-based access models and running services on Kubernetes.
  • Experience adding metrics and alerts to the services you build.

Additional experience with Go, Kubernetes controllers or operators, declarative reconcile-based systems, usage metering, FinOps data, Terraform or GenAI systems is considered an advantage.

How do you work?

You take ownership of your work from design through delivery and beyond. You focus on delivering practical solutions first and continuously improve them. You proactively identify opportunities for improvement, clearly explain your reasoning and remain open to alternative perspectives. You think ahead when making design decisions and build with long-term scalability in mind.

Our stack

  • Languages: Go for the platform control plane, TypeScript and Python for services and APIs.
  • Platform: Kubernetes (EKS) on AWS, Terraform, Helm and ArgoCD.
  • Observability: Grafana, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
