The posting
South Africa, a role for someone who decides
This opening is for South Africa. Take ten minutes over our website and LinkedIn first. In your Loom we will ask what we do, where you found out about us, and why you want to work at Drop Zero Digital. If your answers could belong to any company, they will fall at this stage.
The company and the job
Drop Zero Digital is a lifecycle marketing agency. We are hiring one person in South Africa who is good at making decisions. The AI image service is our fastest growing line, and your area, whichever it is, will help it along.
You will have one named area. It is chosen in the trial, after we have seen where your strengths lie. It will be one of two:
- The hiring machine: how people are found, screened and hired here. The funnel runs through you from sourcing to scheduling, with chasing, an accurate tracker, and a warning to us when the process has a fault.
- Client delivery operations: how client work is planned, briefed, chased and shipped. You hold the timelines, brief the team in full and keep tasks from going quiet.
At heart it is one job. You see something slip, decide the answer and close it before being asked.
We want a decider, not an assistant and not a coordinator. Every day brings real calls, and we weigh the quality of them above the volume. We want a team that decides well without management, which means this is not the job for anyone who waits for instructions each morning.
What we need to see in you
- You make decisions and answer for them, including bad ones.
- You know whose call it is, yours or someone else's, and you get that right either way.
- You use feedback and change, without giving up a view you have good reason for.
- You get better fast. A person at seventy percent and climbing is worth more than one flat at eighty five.
- You tell us when something is failing, even when it is our process at fault.
- You write clearly and honestly, especially when the subject is a problem.
Steps from application to trial
- Application with a short Loom video. Research us first.
- A short test by email: one real decision task, your internet speed, your computer, and a paragraph on your work history.
- A 15 minute call with the founder.
- A recorded video interview. One take, no re-records. We verify the work history you've told us about.
- A paid trial of six to eight weeks doing the real job.
Our decision is made in the trial, and so is the choice of your area. You work on live work from week one and hear straight how each decision landed. It is paid from day one: half rate for the first two weeks while you find your feet, full rate from week three onward, and a completion payment when you finish the trial, whether or not we hire you. If we stop early, you are paid for the days you worked.
On experience
No number of years is asked for. We check your work history against what you tell us, and a false answer ends the application.
Whatever you list is verified, covering employer, dates, title and paid status, evidenced by contract and payslips, in one exchange. Having held a full-time job in the last 12 months is the one requirement. Beyond that there is no minimum, so a short history costs you nothing. Misrepresenting what you have is disqualifying, and the true account is never held against you.
Requirements
- Full time once hired, and it is your only job. During the paid trial you put in 4 hours a day, 2 of them at a fixed time within our working day, and you can keep your current job. Pass, and you give notice and come on full time within 30 days.
- Internet you can rely on: minimum 30 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up, tested live with us.
- Strong written English.
- Based in South Africa.
- You track your working hours in our time tracking tool from the start.
Benefits
1300 USD per month on hire, set by responsibility and demonstrated capability, not by how long you have worked.
Pass your 90-day review and your pay goes up by 50 percent. The 90 days count from the day you start full time.
On top of that:
- A one-month annual bonus.
- 15 days of paid leave a year, rising with tenure, plus your own country's public holidays.
- Paid sick leave.
- A health allowance.
- A coworking allowance.
For those who earn it, responsibility and pay grow quickly. Authority over decisions that reach a client grows slowly and deliberately, and comes from a track record, not a good first month. We would rather you knew that now than found out two months in.
