Employer: Easpring Finland New Materials Oy

Location: Kotka, Finland

About Easpring Finland

Easpring Finland is developing a battery materials plant in Kotka to meet the growing demand for battery materials in Europe. The plant will produce cathode active materials required for electric vehicle batteries.

We are looking for an experienced public relations professional to lead the coordination of crisis communications, media relations, external stakeholder engagement and corporate communications during the Company’s ramp-up and operational development.

Position Summary

As Public Relations Manager, you will serve as Easpring Finland’s primary accountable owner for public relations and crisis communications, with responsibility for identifying emerging reputational risks, coordinating timely responses and maintaining clear, credible communications with external audiences.

You will act as the Company’s authorized spokesperson within defined mandates, develop relationships with media and external public stakeholders, and coordinate corporate and internal communications in cooperation with the CEO and relevant functions. In significant incidents, the role leads the public relations response while technical incident management, legal obligations and final corporate decisions remain with the responsible functions and authorized management.

This role is suited to a senior communications professional who combines sound judgment under pressure, strong local networks and hands-on execution in an evolving industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary accountable owner for the Company’s public relations crisis management and crisis communications, including early identification, assessment, response coordination and post-crisis reputation recovery.
  • Develop and maintain practical crisis communication protocols, escalation routes, spokesperson arrangements, holding statements and response materials in coordination with management and relevant business functions.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional public relations responses to significant incidents involving operations, occupational safety, employees, environmental matters or regulatory scrutiny, ensuring clear responsibilities, factual accuracy, timely escalation to the CEO and consistent external messaging, subject to required internal approvals.
  • Manage relationships with Finnish national, regional and local media; respond to enquiries and act as an authorized Company spokesperson within agreed mandates and approval procedures.
  • Prepare media briefings, key messages, questions and answers, statements and interview materials; advise management on sensitive media interactions and public positioning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external non-shareholder stakeholders, including government ministries, public authorities, cities, municipalities, development agencies, industry organizations and local communities.
  • Coordinate external stakeholder engagement and public affairs activities, keeping appropriate records and supporting applicable transparency-related reporting requirements.
  • Develop and implement annual corporate communications plans, including the preparation of press releases, website content, social media updates, Company presentations and other external communications materials.
  • Maintain consistent messages and corporate identity across channels, coordinating external communications partners and ensuring required internal review before publication.
  • Coordinate internal communications on Company developments and significant events in cooperation with HR, HSE, Operations and other responsible functions, without replacing their subject-matter ownership.
  • Monitor media coverage, public sentiment and emerging reputational risks; assess implications, recommend preventative actions and provide concise updates to management.
  • Support stakeholder confidence and corporate reputation through proactive, accurate and consistent engagement; evaluate communication effectiveness and identify improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Social Sciences, Business Administration or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in public relations, corporate communications, media relations or public affairs; substantial crisis communications experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to coordinate sensitive or high-profile public communications, manage competing demands and exercise sound judgment under pressure.
  • Excellent written and spoken Finnish and English, including the ability to communicate complex industrial or technical issues clearly to different audiences.
  • Strong experience working with journalists, public authorities, local communities and other external stakeholders; established Finnish networks are an advantage.
  • Understanding of the industrial, manufacturing, energy or battery materials sector is an advantage.
  • Strong writing, presentation, interviewing, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with senior management and cross-functional teams, and manage external professional partners.
  • High integrity, discretion, resilience and sensitivity when handling confidential or reputationally significant matters.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to join a fast-growing battery materials company
  • A visible role shaping crisis readiness, public trust and external engagement during a major industrial investment project
  • Opportunity to work with Company leadership and a wide network of Finnish external stakeholders
  • International working environment
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
