eBay is seeking a strategic, commercially minded, and highly collaborative Senior Director of Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead the company’s enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, and performance management processes. This leader will play a critical role in shaping eBay’s financial strategy, providing actionable insights that inform business decisions, optimize resource allocation, and support sustainable long-term growth. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Senior Director will bring a combination of financial expertise, business acumen, and intellectual curiosity to help navigate the opportunities and complexities of a dynamic global marketplace.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of FP&A, this leader will partner closely with the CFO, executive leadership team, and finance leaders across the organization to translate financial performance into meaningful business insights and strategic recommendations. The successful candidate will bring experience leading Corporate FP&A within a complex, publicly traded company, with a demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels. This individual will be an exceptional communicator, capable of distilling complex financial and business issues into clear, compelling narratives that inform executive decision-making and support investor and Board-level communications.

Beyond delivering financial rigor and operational excellence, this leader will help shape the continued evolution of eBay’s finance organization. They will challenge conventional approaches, champion simplification and standardization, and leverage emerging technologies, including AI-enabled analytics, advanced data visualization, and end-to-end process automation, to enhance forecasting capabilities, accelerate insights, and enable more effective decision-making. Equally important, this individual will be an inspiring people leader who builds high-performing teams, fosters collaboration, and creates a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Financial Planning & Performance: Lead eBay’s corporate financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting processes, ensuring financial rigor, consistency, and alignment with enterprise priorities.
  • Strategic Business Partnership: Partner with the VP of FP&A to provide the CFO and executive leadership team with forward-looking financial perspectives, challenge assumptions, and inform critical business and investment decisions.
  • Long-Term Strategic Planning: Drive the financial components of eBay’s long-range planning process, partnering across Finance and the business to evaluate growth opportunities, strategic investments, financial trade-offs, and enterprise resource allocation.
  • Executive Financial Communications: Develop compelling financial narratives, analyses, and presentations that support executive leadership discussions, investor communications, and Board reporting, translating complex information into actionable insights.
  • Financial Analysis & Decision Support: Lead high-impact analytical initiatives to assess business performance, identify emerging trends, evaluate risks and opportunities, and inform strategic and operational decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with business unit Finance leaders, Investor Relations, Controllership, Treasury, Tax, and other key stakeholders to strengthen financial alignment, streamline reporting, and support enterprise-wide decision-making.
  • Finance Transformation & Innovation: Champion the modernization of financial planning and reporting capabilities through process simplification, scalable systems, intelligent workflow automation, and thoughtful adoption of AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics to improve efficiency, forecast accuracy, and the quality of financial insights.
  • Advanced Data Visualization & Reporting: Drive the transition from static reporting to dynamic, self-service dashboards, empowering stakeholders with real-time, interactive financial insights.
  • Operational Excellence: Establish consistent financial frameworks, reporting standards, and performance metrics while identifying opportunities to eliminate non-value-added activities and enable Finance to focus on higher-impact strategic work.
  • Organizational Leadership: Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing Corporate FP&A team, fostering a culture of intellectual curiosity, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Change Leadership: Help advance the broader transformation of eBay’s Finance organization, challenging established practices, navigating ambiguity, and driving sustainable improvements in how Finance partners with the business.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in Finance, including significant leadership experience in Corporate FP&A within a complex, global organization, preferably in the technology sector; experience in a publicly traded company strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in enterprise financial planning, forecasting, performance management, long-range strategic planning, and capital and resource allocation.
  • Proven ability to serve as a strategic thought partner to senior executives, combining financial rigor with commercial judgment to influence enterprise-level decisions.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the intellectual curiosity to challenge assumptions, identify underlying business drivers, and develop practical solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex financial information into compelling insights and recommendations for senior executives and support the development of Board-level materials.
  • Track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing teams, with a leadership style that inspires trust, encourages diverse perspectives, and creates accountability for results.
  • Demonstrated success influencing across organizational boundaries and building effective partnerships with senior business and functional leaders.
  • Experience driving finance transformation, including improvements to financial systems, planning processes, reporting infrastructure, and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of modern financial planning technologies, data analytics, data visualization platforms, and emerging AI-enabled capabilities, with an interest in applying innovation to improve business outcomes.
  • Proven experience leading automation initiatives that significantly reduce manual data processing and accelerate the monthly/quarterly reporting cycles.
  • Advanced financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in Google and/ or Microsoft office suite and advanced BI tools, and enterprise financial planning and reporting platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution and sound judgment under ambiguity.
  • High degree of integrity, accountability, and self-awareness, with a commitment to continuous improvement, developing others, and delivering results that support the organization's long-term success.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
