Job Description

Are you an experienced Wind Turbine Technician looking to use your expertise where it matters most? Join a site team that plays a vital role in keeping renewable energy flowing while helping to deliver a cleaner, more secure energy future.

At EDF power solutions, we’re powering an Electric UK and Ireland. Your work will help us turn that ambition into action – delivering renewable energy solutions that will power homes, businesses and communities for generations to come.

Based at Fallago Rig Wind Farm, you'll be at the heart of maintaining critical renewable energy infrastructure. Through your technical expertise, commitment to safety, and hands-on approach, you'll help maximise turbine performance and support our journey towards a net zero future.

The Opportunity

As a Wind Turbine Technician, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our onshore wind turbines, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a varied role combining planned maintenance, fault-finding, diagnostics, and major component work across our wind generation assets.

Alongside a salary range of between £46,000 to £50,000 per annum, you'll be based at our #FallagoRig Wind Farm in the Scottish Borders. To support operational requirements, you must live within 45 minutes of the service centre at TD3 6NW. This is a fully site-based role.

Working within an established team, you'll have the opportunity to broaden your technical expertise across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control systems. You'll also work under Wind Turbine Safety Rules and contribute directly to the availability and performance of renewable energy assets that power communities across the UK.

Why EDF power solutions?

We’re united by a shared ambition: to tackle climate change, shaping an Electric UK and Ireland. Our diverse team is growing fast, driven by innovation and a commitment to clean, green energy for all.

With technologies spanning onshore and offshore wind, solar, battery storage and green hydrogen, we’re the UK & Ireland’s most diverse renewable generator. By 2035, we aim to deliver 10GW of low-carbon energy – and we’d love you to help us get there.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Wind Turbine Technician who combines strong technical expertise with a commitment to safe working practices and high operational standards. You'll enjoy working as part of a close-knit team while taking ownership of maintenance activities in a safety-critical environment. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…

  • Previous experience as an Authorised Wind Turbine Technician
  • Accreditation or previous accreditation as an Authorising Technician (AT) or Authorising Engineer (AE) under Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR)
  • A recognised Electrical or Mechanical qualification such as HNC, HND or NVQ, supported by hands-on operational experience
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, practices, rules and regulations within the wind industry
  • Experience carrying out operations and maintenance activities on wind turbines
  • A full UK driving licence
  • The ability to be based within 45 minutes of the Fallago Rig service centre at TD3 6NW

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on wind turbines in line with manufacturer guidelines
  • Reporting on maintenance activities and supporting work planning
  • Managing spare parts and consumable stock
  • Fault-finding, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Carrying out diagnostics both remotely and on-site
  • Proactively repairing or replacing components to prevent downtime
  • Supporting or supervising specialist contractors during major component exchanges
  • Complying with all health and safety requirements, including WTSR
  • Providing out-of-hours and weekend response to turbine breakdowns when required
  • Ensuring the highest possible levels of turbine availability and performance

Pay, Benefits and Culture

If you’re looking to join a company where you can work hard, have fun, and help to create a net zero future – then you’re in the right place! If you’re passionate about tackling climate change to support a cleaner, greener future, we’d love you to come and join us.

Alongside a salary range of between £46,000 to £50,000 per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, our employee benefits include flexible benefits tailored to your lifestyle – from electric vehicle leasing and private healthcare to extra holiday and more.

Everyone is welcome at EDF power solutions; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
