Our client is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to design, develop, and support embedded software for complex hardware systems. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong firmware and hardware integration experience who has worked with either high-voltage or low-voltage systems. You'll work closely with electrical, systems, and software engineering teams to develop reliable, production-quality embedded solutions from initial architecture through hardware bring-up, testing, validation, and deployment.

We're especially interested in engineers who are actively incorporating AI-assisted development or agentic AI workflows into how they build, test, debug, document, or maintain software.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, debug, test, and validate embedded software and firmware
  • Develop software for high-voltage and/or low-voltage electronic systems
  • Translate system and hardware requirements into scalable software architectures
  • Develop embedded drivers using hardware schematics and component datasheets
  • Support board bring-up, hardware integration, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Work with microcontrollers, processors, sensors, communication interfaces, and other embedded hardware
  • Collaborate closely with electrical, systems, mechanical, and software engineering teams
  • Apply AI-assisted and agentic development tools to improve software development, testing, debugging, and engineering workflows
  • Participate in code, software design, architecture, and schematic reviews
  • Develop and maintain reliable, testable, and maintainable production software
  • Troubleshoot complex hardware/software integration issues
  • Contribute to technical direction, architecture decisions, and engineering best practices
  • Mentor other engineers and provide technical leadership as the team grows

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of embedded software or firmware development experience
  • Strong C programming skills with working knowledge of C++
  • Experience developing software for high-voltage and/or low-voltage embedded systems
  • Experience with bare-metal embedded systems and/or real-time operating systems
  • Experience with microcontrollers, processors, peripherals, and hardware interfaces
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and component datasheets
  • Experience with hardware bring-up and debugging
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and similar test equipment
  • Experience with embedded communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, SPI, I2C, UART, or Ethernet
  • Experience developing in Linux environments
  • Proficiency with Git and modern source control practices
  • Experience using Python for scripting, automation, testing, or development
  • Track record of delivering production-quality embedded software
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical communication skills
  • Ability to independently own complex engineering initiatives
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience using AI coding assistants, AI agents, or agentic development workflows as part of the software development lifecycle
  • Experience building automated AI-driven workflows for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, or code review
  • Battery Management System (BMS) experience
  • Power electronics or energy storage experience
  • Automotive, electric vehicle, robotics, aerospace, medical device, industrial automation, or other embedded systems experience
  • Experience with functional safety or safety-critical systems
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS)

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
