Job Description

Corporate Senior Accountant

NI is hiring a Corporate Senior Accountant located at its headquarters in Austin, Texas, reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager. As a Corporate Senior Accountant, you will be a key member of the team responsible for NI's global balance sheet and related accounting and financial reporting processes. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of the Company's financial statements, maintaining compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal control requirements, and driving continuous improvement across the global accounting organization.

The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter resource within Corporate Accounting, partnering with stakeholders across Finance and the broader organization to support complex accounting matters, enhance financial processes, and contribute to a strong control environment.

The role provides the successful candidate with the opportunity to:

  • Lead highly visible corporate accounting and financial reporting activities.
  • Apply and deepen expertise in U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, technical accounting, and financial controls.
  • Partner with finance and business stakeholders across a global organization to address complex accounting and reporting matters.
  • Drive process transformation, standardization, and automation initiatives across the accounting function.
  • Develop expertise in accounting processes supporting an organization with multiple manufacturing sites, a broad portfolio of products and services, and over 90 legal entities across nearly 50 countries.
  • Influence accounting and business decisions through financial analysis and process recommendations.
  • Gain exposure to strategic business initiatives, acquisitions, and finance transformation activities.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Lead key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes related to the Company's worldwide balance sheet in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Perform detailed balance sheet analytics and proactively identify risks, unusual transactions, and emerging accounting issues.
  • Support the preparation and review of financial statement disclosures and other external reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a primary accounting resource for unintegrated acquired entities, including oversight of account reconciliations, manual journal entries, and related subledger activities across multiple ERP environments.
  • Research, document, and communicate technical accounting conclusions and accounting policy considerations to management.
  • Identify and communicate accounting issues, unusual fluctuations, and process improvement opportunities to Corporate Accounting leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and internal control requirements while recommending enhancements to strengthen the control environment.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting leadership on the implementation and interpretation of accounting policies and the consistent application of accounting practices across the organization.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, simplification, standardization, and optimization of accounting and reporting processes.
  • Drive special projects and strategic initiatives that enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the financial close and reporting environment.
  • Lead testing and implementation activities associated with system upgrades, ERP enhancements, and finance transformation initiatives.
  • Execute and evaluate internal controls over financial reporting in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and identify opportunities to improve control effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a key contact for internal and external auditors by coordinating requests, preparing supporting documentation, and addressing audit inquiries.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to less experienced accounting team members as appropriate.

Who You Are:

You introduce new ways of looking at problems and challenge the status quo through thoughtful analysis. You build strong partnerships across functions and influence outcomes through collaboration and expertise. You operate effectively in a dynamic environment, balancing attention to detail with a focus on broader business objectives.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA certification strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a public accounting firm and/or a corporate accounting organization.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting requirements, and internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Experience leading or owning month-end close processes, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience researching and applying accounting guidance to complex business transactions.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Experience with publicly traded companies and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, Hyperion, and related financial systems.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, or multi-ERP environments.
  • Experience leading process improvement, automation, and standardization initiatives.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in a global accounting environment.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and highly matrixed organization.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
