The posting

Description of the role:

  • Production Assistant responsible for helping the production department in sheet metal work fabrication.
  • To perform welding, cutting and bending of the metal sheet
  • To carry out fitting assembly works
  • To operate CNC machinery
  • To perform painting works

Key Tasks:

Fabrication of Generator equipment and accessories

  • Able to use welding equipment to manufacture parts and assemblies as required, meeting project schedule
  • Work on site and workshop as required
  • Able to read and understand basic drawings and fabrication instructions
  • Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements
  • Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
  • Align components using calipers, rulers, clamp pieces and etc
  • Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
  • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
  • Co-ordinate with supervisor for job instruction
  • Preparing and setup of necessary tools and equipment for welding, fitting, painting, staging and delivery processes

Requirements:

Education:

  • Professional Certificate/NiTEC, Diploma Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diplima

Knowledge / Experience / Others:

  • Min 1 year experience in welding and fitting trade
  • Experience in using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, ARC, MIG, etc)
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers, etc)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face shield, gloves, etc)

Personal Competencies:

  • Professional Certification (eg. an AWS welding certificate) will be an added advantage
