Job Title:

Lead Process & Quality Engineer

Job Description:

The Role

Our site in Colorado Springs, CO is seeking an ONSITE Lead Process & Quality Engineer to join our UPE Membrane team. This position will play a critical role in the startup, qualification, and long-term operation of membrane manufacturing processes supporting the semiconductor industry.

You will help establish and mature manufacturing operations by partnering with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and technical subject matter experts across Entegris. The role combines process engineering, manufacturing startup, process validation, and quality leadership. You will translate technical knowledge into stable, scalable manufacturing processes while building the procedures, controls, training, and quality-system infrastructure needed for sustained production.

This position will coordinate closely with subject matter experts at our i2M sister site and other Entegris locations to support technology transfer, process replication, qualification, troubleshooting, and implementation of manufacturing best practices. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic startup environment, is comfortable working directly with processes and equipment, and can lead complex work across geographically dispersed teams.

What You'll Do

  • Lead manufacturing startup, process qualification, and operational-readiness activities for UPE membrane manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and execute readiness plans that integrate equipment qualification, process validation, procedure development, training, metrology, material readiness, and process-control implementation.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support during commissioning, startup, qualification, scale-up, troubleshooting, and sustained manufacturing.
  • Partner with Operations, Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Quality, EHS, and R&D to establish safe, stable, capable, and repeatable manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate remotely and onsite with technical subject matter experts at i2M and other Entegris locations to transfer process knowledge, replicate critical controls, resolve technical issues, and align manufacturing practices.
  • Author, review, and implement procedures, work instructions, process specifications, control plans, inspection methods, qualification protocols, validation reports, and other QMS documentation.
  • Lead or support equipment and process qualification activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ, measurement-system analysis, GR&R, process characterization, capability studies, and validation reporting.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals to membrane-manufacturing operations such as slurry or material preparation, die extrusion, extraction, annealing, thermal processing, web handling, inspection, and downstream converting activities.
  • Analyze manufacturing and quality data using statistical methods to identify sources of variation and improve yield, throughput, capability, reliability, and cost.
  • Lead structured problem solving and corrective actions using root cause analysis, risk assessment, DOE, SPC, and continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • Support technology transfers and new product introductions from development through qualified commercial manufacturing.
  • Assess process changes and ensure appropriate change management, validation, documentation, training, and customer or regulatory requirements are addressed.
  • Communicate technical risks, qualification status, investigation results, and project progress to leadership, cross-functional teams, customers, and auditors.
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor, influencing cross-functional decisions and helping establish a culture of disciplined execution and manufacturing excellence.

What We Seek

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; 6 years with a master's degree; or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing process development, process engineering, process validation, equipment qualification, technology transfer, or manufacturing startup.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional technical projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience writing and implementing technical procedures, work instructions, qualification protocols, validation reports, control plans, or other QMS documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis, risk assessment, statistical methods, process capability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work independently, establish technical approaches, and drive execution in an evolving manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with remote subject matter experts and translate technical knowledge into clear, executable manufacturing requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project, and with statistical software such as Minitab or JMP.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with membrane manufacturing, filtration products, polymer processing, advanced materials, specialty chemicals, battery separator film, nonwovens, or a related continuous-process industry.
  • Knowledge of membrane or polymer-processing operations such as slurry or solution preparation, die extrusion, casting, phase inversion, extraction, annealing, stretching, pore formation, thermal processing, or web handling.
  • Experience supporting greenfield manufacturing, manufacturing scale-up, process replication, or transfer from development to commercial production.
  • Experience with continuous or roll-to-roll manufacturing processes.
  • Experience designing and executing DOE, process characterization, SPC, process capability, validation, and measurement-system studies.
  • Experience with SAP, camLine, EtQ, or comparable manufacturing and quality systems.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

Success in This Role

  • You balance strategic system development with hands-on execution on the manufacturing floor.
  • You create structure where processes, procedures, and responsibilities are still maturing.
  • You build productive working relationships across functions, sites, and time zones.
  • You use data and disciplined problem solving to convert technical uncertainty into robust controls.
  • You take ownership, communicate risks early, and deliver sustainable solutions rather than temporary fixes.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
