We are looking for a Senior Human Resources Business Partner for a temporary contract assignment. This role provides full-cycle, strategic and hands-on HR Business Partner support to our Centers of Excellence/Departments, specifically Finance, Technology, Legal, and Operations, while also assuming oversight of the Talent Relations function. The Senior HR Business Partner is accountable for both sides of the HR Business Partner portfolio: driving organizational initiatives, HR functional excellence, and process improvement for assigned client groups, and providing leadership, escalation support, and quality control for employee and background talent relations matters managed day-to-day by the Talent Relations Specialist. This position directly manages a small team and serves as the primary escalation point for complex, sensitive, or high-risk employee relations and Talent Relations matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understand business goals and assist in the implementation of new approaches, policies, and procedures to drive continual improvement in business objectives, productivity, and workforce development.
  • Work closely with management and employees to build relationships, morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Partner with the CHRO, HR team, Legal, Finance, and department leadership to proactively address organizational needs.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Identify training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Consult with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Conduct regular (e.g., weekly) meetings with respective business units.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and quality control for the Talent Relations function, and directly manage and develop a small team.
  • Oversee the Casting sick pay process to ensure timely completion and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Serve as the point of escalation for complex, high-risk, or legally sensitive Talent Relations matters, including allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, or other unlawful conduct.
  • Review and approve investigation findings, disciplinary determinations, and written investigation summaries prepared by the Talent Relations Specialist prior to finalization.
  • Partner with the Legal department as needed for escalations.
  • Handle Human Resources matters in regional locations, if applicable.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HR Business Partner.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations matters and workplace investigations (harassment, discrimination, retaliation); prior oversight of a dedicated Employee/Talent Relations function strongly preferred.
  • Prior people management experience required.
  • High level of knowledge of CA-specific employment regulations required.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state EEO laws and workplace investigation standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple client groups simultaneously and provide strong consultative skills.
  • Broad business and financial understanding and the ability to apply it to human capital implications.
  • Adept at communicating effectively across all levels of internal and external stakeholders while inspiring confidence.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to identify and analyze business and organizational needs.
  • Proven success communicating key HR initiatives through the proper channels.
  • Sound judgment in handling highly confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to produce and review high-quality written work product, including investigation summaries and recommendations.
  • Strong people-leadership skills, with demonstrated experience managing and developing direct reports.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience providing HRBP support to Technology and/or Finance departments preferred.
  • Experience with HCM systems; Oracle preferred.
  • Labor relations experience and familiarity with labor law preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification, or equivalent, desired.

The hourly rate for this position is $60 and will be commensurate with experience related to the position.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
