Job description

Got 18+ months of M&A or transaction services experience and ready to own the deal, not just support it? Join Equiteq in Boston as a Senior Analyst and take on real responsibility across sell-side mandates in the knowledge economy.

About us

Equiteq is a rapidly growing global middle-market boutique investment banking platform providing M&A and strategic advisory services within the IT / Digital Services, Consulting and other knowledge-intensive sectors. With offices in New York, Boston, Atlanta, London, Singapore, Bengaluru and Sydney, Equiteq is the global M&A authority on firms that constitute the fast-evolving knowledge economy.

We pride ourselves on being sector specialists who develop deep relationships with our clients to help them grow and realize value.

We are looking to hire people with a strong commitment to providing excellent service to our clients, persistent personal and professional development, and contributing meaningfully to our institutional brand as a leading advisor.

About this role

This is an opportunity for an experienced analyst to step up as a significant contributor to a growing and highly utilised deal team. Building on your existing transaction experience, you’ll take ownership of key workstreams across the end-to-end M&A process and develop the client-facing and leadership skills that prepare you for the Associate role.

As a Senior Analyst within Equiteq, you’ll have significant responsibility, advancement opportunities, client access and opportunities to work on a global platform.

Key Responsibilities and Challenges:

  • Lead research and prepare presentations which identify and explain industry trends, shaping the sector narrative for pitches and live mandates
  • Own the preparation of confidential operating as well as transactional models, information memorandums, presentations and marketing documents in support of sale transactions
  • Take a critical role in the execution of mergers & acquisition advisory mandates with a holistic footprint across the transaction workstreams (marketing, buyer outreach, due diligence, project management & coordination)
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospective and existing clients, acting as a day-to-day point of contact for clients and buyers on live processes
  • Review the work of, and mentor, junior Analysts and interns, setting the standard for quality and accuracy across the deal team

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 18+ months’ experience in M&A, investment banking or transaction services (e.g. financial due diligence), with exposure to live deal execution
  • Exemplary academic record and demonstrated commitment to achievement
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with a solid grounding in financial accounting and quality of earnings / due diligence concepts
  • Demonstrable intent to drive excellence through rigour and attention to detail across work tasks
  • Highest quality communication skills with clients as well as internal teams
  • Excellent industry analysis and ability to abstract trends and insights from primary data
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications, knowledge of specific investment banking databases (e.g. CapitalIQ, Pitchbook) is a plus

Attributes:

  • Personal Impact – able to build confidence quickly in order to be someone a client would want in their corner.
  • Resilient – able to work under (at times, fairly intense!) pressure with definitive deadlines. This person will be a self-starter with a high degree of accountability and self-confidence. Must be able to project a professional and calm demeanour in order to gain trust and confidence.
  • Fastidious – have a methodical, process-driven nature that anticipates future project issues and problems before they occur.
  • Strong Commitment - to the job with ability and willingness to work long hours and weekends when deadlines require it.

Education/Qualifications:

  • Qualification to degree level in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • FINRA Series 63 and 79 desired, but not essential.

Our values

At Equiteq, our values are central to what we do and how we show up for our colleagues and clients:

  • Achievement: We are driven by attaining measurable success for our clients, our colleagues, our firm and ourselves.
  • Empathy: We are excellent at understanding entrepreneurs. We are comfortable stepping into difficult, uncertain situations and figuring out a path forward, with competent humility. We know when to do the banking work and when to focus on human connections. We treat our clients as the savvy entrepreneurs that they are and listen, so that we can help them realize their vision.
  • Integrity: What we do is consistent with what we say. We define expectations and meet those, every time.
  • Teamwork: We value collaboration; we value our team. We work together to produce the best outcomes for our clients. We gravitate to working in teams even when solo work might be more efficient, easier, or faster.
  • Entrepreneurial: We understand entrepreneurs because we are entrepreneurs ourselves. We all think and act like owners, which means we care passionately about our clients, our reputation, and our success

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
