Job Description

Job Summary

The Facilities Department here at ETSU is seeking to fill a vacant position. Responsibilities include performing a variety of skilled maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and masonry, as well as other related duties as assigned.

Candidates must be available to work various shifts and schedules, with overtime required as needed. Employees may also be required to report to work during emergency closures or inclement weather, including performing essential duties such as snow removal, to ensure the continued operation and safety of facilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of methods, materials, and procedures used in general repair and maintenance work Knowledge of the tools, machinery, and equipment used to perform a variety of maintenance tasks Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions Ability to properly use, clean, maintain, and perform minor repairs on tools, equipment, and machinery Ability to follow instructions, assess situations, and make sound decisions. Ability to exercise good judgment in the proper use and conservation of materials Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and other personnel Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work assignments efficiently

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma
  • Six months minimum experience in building and facility maintenance, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, masonry, and other general maintenance and repair tasks OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred qualifications

  • Completion of vocational education
  • 2 years experience in trade services
