What's the Role?

Etsy is seeking a highly analytical Manager to lead our Seller Retention & Engagement Marketing (REM / CRM) team. The team owns how Etsy communicates with sellers across email, push, and other owned channels, helping sellers get started, grow, and stay successful on the marketplace.

The ideal candidate has marketed to businesses (B2B) or to the supply side of a marketplace before, and brings rigor to every decision: what we send, to whom, how often, and whether it moved seller outcomes. You'll lead a cross-functional team spanning lifecycle marketing, strategy and planning, operations, and development. You'll decide how the team delivers against our seller priorities, turn those priorities into a clear quarterly plan, and build the operating practices that let teams across Etsy reach sellers with relevant, timely communications without over-messaging them.

This role sits at the intersection of lifecycle marketing, seller education, product, and analytics. It requires someone who can speak for the seller inside Marketing, find the signal in detailed analysis, and make sound calls when the data is incomplete.

What's This Team Like at Etsy?

Seller Marketing helps Etsy's sellers start, grow, and thrive. Within it, the REM team is a group of technical marketers and operators who deliver personalized, high-quality communications at scale through Braze and other owned channels. We work alongside Seller Content, Community and Product Marketing teams so that every message reflects Etsy's seller voice and tone. We care as much about getting the numbers right as getting the message right, and we hold ourselves to honest readouts, including when a test doesn't win.

What Does the Day-to-Day Look Like?

  • Lead the team that owns seller lifecycle strategy and planning, operations, and execution, including coaching, goal setting, performance feedback, and equitable hiring, onboarding, and promotion practices
  • Translate annual seller marketing priorities into a quarterly roadmap with clear KPIs, and report progress against them to senior leaders
  • Manage the lifecycle portfolio, not just individual sends: inventory, relevance, prioritization, and per-seller frequency across onboarding, growth, peak season, reactivation, and policy or fee changes
  • Define seller segments and turn them into targeted, personalized journeys across email and other owned channels
  • Build a measurement approach that connects reach, delivery, engagement, and downstream seller behavior to incremental value, using holdouts and sound experiments rather than opens and clicks alone
  • Oversee execution in Braze, including segmentation, journey design, QA, and deployment, with a high bar for quality and compliance
  • Align work across Seller Content, Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Customer Support, and communicate performance, risks, and trade-offs to stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of testing and learning that shapes where Etsy invests next in seller communications

Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

Qualities That Will Help You Thrive in This Role

Required

  • Direct experience in B2B marketing or on the supply side of a marketplace (sellers, hosts, drivers, creators, merchants, or similar)
  • Highly analytical, with a track record of using data to set strategy, size opportunities, and make prioritization trade-offs
  • 7+ years of experience in lifecycle, CRM, or retention marketing, including end-to-end campaigns from strategy through measurement
  • Hands-on experience designing and reading experiments (holdout, A/B, multivariate), with sound judgment about incrementality, cohort quality, retention, and lifetime value rather than delivery or click metrics alone
  • Comfort working directly with data, including SQL and Cursor, or a strong working partnership with analytics teams
  • 2+ years of experience managing people, with a track record of developing and retaining strong teams
  • Hands-on experience with a marketing automation platform (Braze preferred), including segmentation, personalization, and deliverability, plus working knowledge of how AI can automate lifecycle work (for example drafting and QA of copy, audience building, reporting, and workflow automation) and good judgment about where human review is still needed
  • Experience building processes and quality standards that increase team speed without sacrificing quality
  • Success partnering across Content, Product, Engineering, and Analytics, and influencing stakeholders without direct authority
  • A bias for action and the ability to turn detailed analysis into a clear recommendation, even when you don't have all the data

Nice to have

  • Experience in a two-sided marketplace with a large, diverse, global seller base, including localization
  • Experience managing a program budget and reporting ROI
  • Familiarity with feature adoption analysis and churn prevention for business customers
  • An entrepreneurial mindset: you enjoy building structure and finding creative solutions with limited resources
  • A passion for Etsy's mission to keep commerce human and support the creativity of small business owners

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
