Je rijdt er waarschijnlijk iedere dag overheen, maar heb je ooit nagedacht over hoe het wordt gemaakt?Bij APK Kootstertille werken mensen dagelijks met grote machines en technische installaties. De centrale ligt tussen Leeuwarden en Groningen. Vanuit deze locatie worden verschillende soorten asfalt geproduceerd.En dat gebeurt op flinke schaal.De centrale kan namelijk 240 ton asfalt per uur produceren. Daarnaast kan de locatie 800 ton asfalt opslaan.Achter ieder stukje asfalt zit dus een behoorlijk technisch proces. En daar zijn handige mensen voor nodig. Asfalt is asfalt? Niet helemaal. De centrale in Kootstertille produceert meer dan vijftig verschillende asfaltmengsels. Ieder mengsel heeft eigen eigenschappen en toepassingen. Denk bijvoorbeeld aan asfalt voor wegen, dijken en industriële toepassingen. Ook geluidsreducerend asfalt behoort tot de mogelijkheden. Voor dijken produceert de centrale speciaal waterbouwkundig asfalt. Daarnaast worden onder andere gietasfalt en open-steenasfalt gemaakt. Zelfs de kleur kan verschillen. De centrale kan namelijk asfalt in verschillende kleuren produceren. Daardoor is geen productieproces precies hetzelfde.
