As a junior flood safety, your work will involve exploring interesting and complex flood safety issues relating to levees and flood defences. Are you a recent graduate with an MSc in Civil Engineering, Earth Sciences or a similar and are you familiar with the Dutch soil conditions and flood safety issuese? Here's what you can expect as a junior flood safety consultant and researcher In the Netherlands, we cannot live without levees and flood defences. As a junior employee, you will help advise clients on the construction and management of these essential components of our water infrastructure. You will investigate how we can make them safe and keep them that way. You will identify and analyse developments that affect the soil conditions and flood defences. You will assess the effects of climate change, investigate land subsidence, monitor flood situations and contribute to solutions for flood defence issues. In addition, you will be involved in the design, assessment and review of levees. The new knowledge is validated in our experimental facilities, amongst other places, and incorporated into guidelines and D-series software instruments. These are used by you and the sector. Sharing this knowledge fosters strong links with our partners and clients, both nationally and internationally.
