Start your career in European inland shipping with Vario Shipping Group Would you like to start a career in inland shipping, even if you do not yet have a Boatman qualification? Vario Shipping Group is looking for motivated candidates from Slovakia who would like to join our vessels and develop towards becoming a qualified Boatman in European inland shipping. You do not need to be a qualified Boatman when you apply. We are looking for people with the right motivation, attitude and willingness to learn. Your role on board As a member of our deck crew, you will be involved in the safe and efficient daily operation of the vessel. • Mooring and unmooring the vessel • Deck work and general maintenance • Assisting with loading and unloading operations • Keeping the vessel and working areas clean, organised and safe • Following safety procedures and instructions from the Captain • Working together with colleagues from different nationalities • Supporting the crew in the daily operation of the vessel As you gain experience and qualifications, your responsibilities can grow with you. Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone who: • Is motivated to work in European inland shipping • Is comfortable working and living on board for several weeks at a time • Is practical, responsible and safety-conscious • Enjoys working as part of an international team • Is willing to learn and develop professionally • Has sufficient English to communicate safely and effectively on board Experience in inland shipping, maritime work or a technical environment is an advantage, but not essential for every candidate. Experience on tanker vessels is also an advantage. Vario Shipping Group | EURES Recruitment – Slovakia Already qualified? If you already hold a recognised Boatman qualification for European inland shipping, we would be happy to hear from you. Your previous experience and qualifications will be taken into account when discussing your position and employment conditions. Training towards the Boatman qualification You do not need to hold the Boatman qualification when you apply. If you have the right motivation and are interested in building a career in inland shipping, Vario will look at the possibilities for you to develop towards the Boatman qualification. We will first explore whether the required training and examination can be completed in Slovakia. If a suitable route is not available in Slovakia, you must be willing to follow the necessary Boatman training and examination in English in the Netherlands. Vario Shipping Group will support you in finding an appropriate training route and in your further professional development.
