Het kan gaan om persoonsgerichte onderzoeken naar vermoedens van integriteitschendingen, onderzoeken naar vermoedens van misstanden, maar ook om niet persoonsgerichte onderzoeken zoals leer- en cultuuronderzoeken. Bij onze adviseurs komen de meldingen binnen via het Meldpunt Integriteit Defensie of de leidinggevende. Samen met de adviseur bespreek je of de melding voldoende concrete feiten en omstandigheden bevat om een vorm van onderzoek te verantwoorden. Op basis van in een orientierende fase verzamelde informatie maak je een een weging en toetst aan de hand van criteria of een onderzoek gerechtvaardigd is. Zo ja, dan stel je voor de opdrachtgever een onderzoeksopdracht op, wordt een Commissie van Onderzoek samengesteld en dan kan het onderzoek van start gaan. Zo nee, dan voorzie je de adviseur van de juiste argumenten die zij betrekken in hun advies naar een andere oplossing. De resultaten van het onderzoek leg je vast in een rapport dat wordt aangeboden en besproken met de opdrachtgever. Daarnaast zet jij je in voor de COID om kennis te verbreden en je collega's te ondersteunen in doorgaande professionalisering op het gebied van integriteit en specifiek op het gebied van onderzoek.
