You will play a pivotal role in shaping base configurations, defining system solutions for proposals, and assessing project technical risks during the commercial phase. This position requires a strong technical acumen, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative spirit to effectively work across sales, engineering, procurement, and other internal functions.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Technical Engagement: Act as the primary technical expert for customers, addressing their needs, resolving technical inquiries, and ensuring the successful outcome of projects. Technical Proposal Development: Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, engineering, procurement, and field service teams to develop comprehensive technical proposals for new power systems and propulsion solutions. Requirement Analysis: Analyze customer Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to define technical scope, requirements, and compliance matrices, coordinating with internal teams as needed. Technical Documentation: Develop detailed technical specifications, scope of work documents, and performance guarantee points for proposed solutions. Sales Technical Support: Provide expert technical support during the sales process, including participation in customer meetings, technical presentations, and industry events to address project-specific challenges and foster customer relationships. Configuration & Risk Assessment: Liaise with product engineering to understand and articulate appropriate system configurations, modifications from standard designs, and technical performance considerations for proposals, ensuring alignment with customer needs and FMD capabilities. Cross-Functional Coordination: Facilitate the communication of technical requirements, compliance standards, and specifications to supply chain and quality teams to support accurate proposal generation. Process Improvement: Ensure timely delivery and high quality of all technical deliverables within the proposal development lifecycle, contributing to an efficient and effective sales process; provide feedback for continuous improvement. Tool Development: Assist in the development and refinement of proposal templates and technical sales tools to enhance efficiency and consistency. Performance Contribution: Contribute directly to the achievement of sales targets, measured by captured revenue, timely delivery of technical proposals, and the profitability of secured projects. Collaboration & Values: Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships across the organization, particularly within the marine sales and engineering teams, to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment with company objectives. Embody FMD's core values of Integrity, Velocity, and Teamwork in all interactions and responsibilities.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical field. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical sales support, applications engineering, or systems engineering role, preferably within the power generation, marine, or heavy industrial engine industry. Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of diesel engine and generator set systems, marine power solutions, or complex fluid systems preferred. Documentation Skills: Proven ability to interpret technical specifications, RFIs, and RFPs, and to produce clear, comprehensive technical documentation (specifications, scope documents, compliance matrices). Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant industry standards such as ABS rulesets, USCG ACP, and MIL-SPECs is preferred. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks is also required. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex technical information to both internal and external stakeholders. Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Travel: Willingness and flexibility to travel (up to 25%) to engage with customers and support sales initiatives. Language: Fluency in English required; additional proficiency in French, German, or Danish is a plus. Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain Government Security Clearance. Active Secret clearance is preferred.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
