The posting

NICE TO MEET YOU!

As the Food Safety & Quality Manager, you will be the ultimate guardian of product excellence and safety across the entire FELFEL USA supply chain. This is an exciting ground-floor opportunity to build a first-class Food Quality & Safety program for a fast-growing US business. Embedded within the Food Product team, you will work hand-in-hand with internal Operations and Production teams, as well as external suppliers, to establish, uphold, and continuously elevate our food quality standards.

In this role, you will take ownership of defining quality specifications and ensuring our production partners adhere to these strict standards. You will keep our internal product systems strictly updated, from nutritional data entry to allergen declarations, and oversee receiving specs to support timely corrective action processes for daily food production.

You will be at the front-line of FELFEL's Food Safety & Quality operations: taste testing, measuring, and continuously auditing our product to ensure every ingredient sourced and every meal served exceeds expectations. You will act as the operational problem-solver for quality compliance, audit manufacturing partners, and directly address customer feedback to ensure our safety culture is uncompromised.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • On-Site Quality Standards & Receiving: Oversee daily product quality for received goods; taste testing & measuring products against approved product specifications and providing any necessary corrective actions to our internal and external food partners in a timely manner.
  • Production Kitchen Support: Partner with our internal Food Production Team to ensure products are produced at the highest level of quality & safety, troubleshooting in-week production constraints and providing expert guidance.
  • Specification & Data Ownership: Author and maintain master quality specifications for all finished goods. Oversee the accurate entry and ongoing maintenance of nutritional data, allergen declarations, and ingredient decks within FELFEL internal software systems.
  • Supply Chain & Audit Management: Conduct rigorous audits of private label manufacturing facilities and supplier kitchens. Work closely with external vendors to drive end-to-end quality, shelf-life, and safety improvements.
  • Packaging Improvements: Partner with Procurement Ops to research, synthesize, and implement improvements in fresh food packaging design, improving product quality, safety, and shelf life.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the technical expert within the Food Product team, collaborating closely with Operations to investigate root causes and field customer inquiries regarding food safety or quality.
  • Dynamic Operations Support: Maintain operational agility by providing early morning or weekend coverage as dictated by production schedules and operational needs.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Regulatory & Technical Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience navigating HACCP, SQF, FDA, USDA, NYS Agriculture & Markets, NYC Department of Health, and GFSI-benchmarked standards.
  • Data & System Precision: High attention to detail with proven experience managing technical product databases, nutritional calculations, and regulatory label compliance.
  • Industry Background: Proven track record in food safety and quality assurance, with direct experience in fresh, ready-to-eat (RTE) meals strongly preferred.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solver: Strong cross-functional communicator who thrives when bridging the gap between quality compliance, supply chain logistics, and kitchen operations.
  • Flexible Schedule: Evening schedule 11AM - 7PM hours Monday through Friday, with the ability to work mornings & weekends, as needed, to mirror needs of food production schedules; 30% travel (local/same-day); ability to work between our Greenpoint, Long Island City, and Flatiron locations in the NYC area.

OUR BENEFITS

  • Plenty of delicious food from our own FELFEL fridge
  • Exceptional Italian coffee and a selection of fine teas
  • Central Flatiron office and Brooklyn location, surrounded by NYC’s best culinary inspiration
  • 20 days of PTO + 10 holidays (some flexible)
  • Comprehensive healthcare options
  • 401k options
  • Paid parental leave

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
