The posting

Flow Traders is looking for an experienced Datacenter Engineer to own and support the physical infrastructure across our European colocation estate, including latency-sensitive trading sites, back-office datacenters, and microwave/wireless locations. You will be responsible for the full physical infrastructure lifecycle, from new deployments and hardware refreshes to troubleshooting, capacity planning, documentation, and decommissioning. This is a highly hands-on role requiring regular travel across Europe and close collaboration with Network, Systems, Trading Infrastructure, carriers, and colocation providers.

Core Responsibilities

  • Rack, cable, power, commission, troubleshoot, and decommission servers, storage, and network equipment.
  • Deliver new datacenter deployments, hardware refreshes, site expansions, and connectivity projects.
  • Act as the on-site escalation point for hardware, cabling, power, thermal, optics, and physical network incidents.
  • Monitor and forecast rack space, power, cooling, and cross-connect capacity across sites.
  • Manage cross-connects, remote hands, site access, carriers, colocation providers, and specialist contractors.
  • Maintain accurate hardware, spares, cabling, rack elevation, and site documentation.
  • Coordinate hardware shipping, RMAs, receiving, and asset disposal across European locations.
  • Support microwave and wireless locations and supervise specialist contractors where required.
  • Participate in change management, incident response, postmortems, and an out-of-hours on-call rota.
  • Standardize infrastructure practices and automate repetitive operational tasks where possible.

Core Skills & Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on datacenter experience in a business-critical production environment; trading or other latency-sensitive experience is preferred.
  • Strong server hardware knowledge, including rack installation, PDUs, firmware/BIOS, out-of-band management, and component-level troubleshooting.
  • Strong structured cabling knowledge across copper, DAC/Twinax, and SM/MM fibre, including optical testing.
  • Good understanding of colocation power, cooling, redundancy, and environmental monitoring.
  • Basic troubleshooting and configuration experience with Cisco/Arista networking and Linux/Debian systems.
  • Experience managing colocation providers, carriers, contractors, cross-connects, and remote hands.
  • Strong project delivery, documentation, incident management, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel frequently across Europe and participate in on-call support.
  • Valid driving licence and unrestricted ability to travel to and work at provider sites across the EU.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
