The posting
Fluxys is an international energy infrastructure group with 1,300 employees active in gas transmission & storage and liquefied natural gas terminalling.
As a purpose-led company, we’re committed to fast-track the shift to a carbon neutral world. We explore new technologies and invest in infrastructure to accommodate hydrogen, biomethane, CO2 and other molecules for a climate neutral future.
The Grid Department is at the heart of our infrastructure operations. Its teams are responsible for the management, maintenance and development of the network and its facilities, with one key goal: to guarantee their safety, reliability and availability while ensuring the continuity of the gas supply. The Grid Department is divided into five geographical areas, with technical and administrative support provided by central teams.
The South-West Area is looking for a Stations Team Leader (m/f/x).
Job purpose
You will provide local leadership for a team of around nine station technicians and ensure that maintenance work in the South-West Area is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard. As a team leader, you will motivate the team, harness its practical expertise and facilitate collaboration with coordinators and support functions.
Your responsibilities
Team management
- You will provide guidance and support to team members and offer regular monitoring and feedback to ensure they achieve the expected results.
- You will serve as leader and coach: you will provide clear direction, involve the technicians in the decision-making process, utilise their expertise and foster team cohesion.
- You will monitor and assess staff and organise the training and coaching required to develop their skills.
Activity management
- You will ensure the optimum use of resources. You will draw up the annual schedule under the supervision of the Area Manager and oversee the daily schedule prepared by the Grid Maintenance Coordinators, in collaboration with the Work Planner and the Route Manager.
- You will set priorities and step in when site constraints, deadlines or available resources require a decision or mediation.
- You will ensure that the maintenance programme for technical installations is rolled out in accordance with established working methods and procedures.
- You will make sure that operational and maintenance activities are performed safely, efficiently and to a high standard; you will take the necessary corrective actions and implement structural solutions.
Operational excellence and continuous improvement
- You will be responsible for operational excellence, ensuring that similar tasks are carried out in the best possible way and consistently throughout an area, and in this connection you will also liaise with your colleagues in other areas and the Central Team in Brussels to define and implement a common cross-area approach.
- You will be responsible for rolling out new working methods and processes/instructions within your area to ensure that practice and guidelines are aligned.
- You will think critically about how working methods can be improved and encourage your team to suggest improvements or new ideas.
Communication and collaboration
- You will facilitate the flow of information and organise team meetings.
- You will foster collaboration between technicians, coordinators and support functions and constructively manage operational disagreements.
Safety, on-site presence and standby duty
- You will ensure that procedures guaranteeing the safety of facilities and staff are closely followed.
- You will make sure that you are regularly present at the stations and sites in the area in order to remain closely involved with operations and support your team.
- You will be supervised by the Area Manager.
- You will be involved in on-call and standby duties and will coordinate responses to technical issues. During your week on call, you must be available and able to respond within the required timeframe.
About you
- You have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in electromechanics, industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, instrumentation or automation, or have equivalent experience.
- Ideally, you should have three years’ experience in team management; solid experience in technical coordination, combined with clearly demonstrated managerial potential, may also be taken into consideration.
- You have around ten years’ professional experience.
- You possess relevant technical expertise in an industrial or maintenance environment.
- You are keen to take on a hands-on management role and see yourself as a leader, coach and facilitator.
- You are thorough and set great store by safety, quality and adherence to procedures in a sensitive industrial environment.
- You communicate clearly, practise active listening and can forge relationships of trust with a wide range of people.
- You are assertive, able to take a stance and capable of managing or facilitating the resolution of operational disagreements.
- You are comfortable with change and know how to support a team as working methods, technologies and procedures evolve.
- You are willing to travel regularly to various sites in the South-West Area (including the Mons, Charleroi, Namur, Tournai and Walloon Brabant areas) and to take part in on-call and standby duties.
- You live within 30 minutes of our base in Mons or Charleroi.
