The posting
Founded in 1984, the Food Bank for Larimer County is the central hub for food rescue and charitable food distribution in our area. Our mission is to provide food to all in need through community partnerships and hunger relief programs such as no-cost markets, our network of nonprofit partners, and prepared meals for children and seniors.
Nourishing our community starts here.
Looking for meaningful work that gets you moving, connects you to your community, and makes a daily impact? As a Food Rescue Route Driver, you'll serve as the face of the Food Bank for Larimer County—driving purpose as much as you drive a truck. Each day, you help ensure good food reaches those who need it most through our No-Cost Market and agency partners. You'll operate a standard 26’ non-CDL box truck to collect and deliver rescued food from generous grocery stores, farms, restaurants, and statewide donors. You’ll ensure this food is safe, sorted, and shared with care. This role is about more than logistics—it’s about helping to nourish neighbors and reduce food waste across Larimer County.
What you will be doing:
- Safely operate a 26’ box truck to transport rescued food from local and statewide partners to our warehouse, No-Cost Market, and community agencies.
- Represent the Food Bank with professionalism and kindness, acting as a critical bridge between donors, partners, and the organization.
- Inspect and handle donated food according to food safety standards; ensure proper temperatures, storage, and handling at every stage.
- Maintain a current Food Safety Certification and adhere to Feeding America’s donation guidelines.
- Support occasional special events that may occur during evenings or weekends.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including licensing, logs, inspections, and routine vehicle maintenance.
- Keep vehicles clean and operational, reporting any issues promptly.
- Accurately document all food collected and delivered; enter data into our tracking system.
- Communicate frequently with the transportation team about changes, delays, or issues that arise during routes.
- Support general warehouse operations, including inventory, loading/unloading, and organization.
Are you ready to help us shape the next chapter of what a food bank can do and End Hunger Here?
