Who We Are The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

Our Culture We embrace a culture of learning, collaboration, innovation, and well-being, where open communication drives our impact.

About The Role The GAC Fund Project Coordinator will work under the direction of the GAC Project Manager to administer the NYC GAC Fund portfolio. The GAC Fund Project Coordinator is part of the team primarily responsible for citywide efforts to promote and protect access to gender affirming care.

About the Program Gender-affirming care (GAC) is recognized by major U.S. medical associations as medically necessary for many transgender and gender-diverse people. In addition, many transgender and gender non-conforming/non-binary (TGNCNB) individuals also need legal or practical assistance in updating their identification documents, combatting jobs or housing discrimination, or even accessing education or bathrooms. Research shows GAC is associated with reduced depression and suicidal ideation, and better long-term mental health outcomes. Denial of care or legal recognition of one’s identity increases risk of mental health crisis and unsafe self-treatment. Yet access has become increasingly difficult due to state-level restrictions, insurance barriers, and shifting federal guidance.

New York City has been an innovator and leader in sexual and reproductive health. The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has long followed the tenets of the Sexual and Reproductive Justice Framework which states that all people should have the power and resources to make healthy decisions about their bodies, including sexuality and reproduction.

As part of these efforts, the Health Department will develop and implement a new fund to contract with clinical providers to ensure access to care for youth in need of gender-affirming care. This funding will enable providers of youth gender-affirming care to address financial shortfalls resulting from any denials or reductions in federal funding and increase their capacity to ensure continuity of care for medically necessary hormone therapy for transgender youth in accessible and affordable care settings.

Responsibilities The GAC Fund Project Coordinator will:

Conduct a landscape analysis of the New York City GAC provider network

Synthesize service level and cost information to create a strategic plan and recommendations for fund administration to identify opportunities for funding.

Assist with the planning, implementation, coordination and oversight of the contract administration activities for the GAC Fund, including:

Work with the GAC Fund Project Manager to assist with developing, reviewing, negotiating and managing solicitation and contract-related documents including grant or contract proposals, scopes of work, evaluation criteria, contract amendments and budget modifications

Collaborate with Finance and Administrative teams to monitor grantee/contractor performance and coordinate and communicate directly with grantee/contractors regarding contract deliverables and operational expectations to support successful contract performance and service delivery.

Work with the GAC Fund Data Analyst to track grantee/contractor performance through regular review of programmatic data.

Help with coordinating contractor meetings and execution, including logistics, agenda and content development.

Serve as primary point of contact for current and prospective grantees/contractors.

Help with the preparation of presentations and other written materials for internal and external audiences.

Other duties as assigned to support the overall goals and mission of the department/organization.

Requirements

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in grants management activities related to the duties described above; OR a master’s degree in non-profit management, public administration, public policy or other relevant field from an accredited college and at least one year of experience in grants management activities related to the duties described above. Commitment to sexual and reproductive rights and gender justice preferred. Understands the experiences, issues and needs of the TGNCNB community. Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong research, written and interpersonal communication skills. Detail oriented and able to work both independently and collaboratively.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
