Job Description

Sr Business Analyst / Senior Decision Scientist - Insurance

Overview

As part of the Strategic Analytics team for our Insurance Client, the Senior Decision Scientist /Sr Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in shaping enterprise insights and influencing strategic decision-making. This role focuses on diagnosing changes in business performance, applying advanced and predictive analytics, and translating complex data into clear narratives that leaders can act on.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive advanced analytics and insight generation to explain business performance and recommend actions
  • Analyze conversion and conversation trends across time periods, geographies, and customer segments
  • Partner with underwriting teams to evolve business rules using predictive and advanced analytics
  • Apply predictive analytics to improve marketing effectiveness and customer outcomes
  • Translate complex analytical findings into executive-ready narratives, dashboards, and recommendations
  • Serve as a trusted analytics advisor to senior stakeholders across marketing and underwriting
  • Collaborate with enterprise data and engineering teams on pipelines, data quality, and new initiatives
  • Promote analytics best practices, decision science thinking, and data storytelling across the organization

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Analytics, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in analytics, decision science, or senior business/data analyst roles
  • Insurance domain experience (preferred), P&C / Personal Lines (Home & Auto)
  • Hands-on experience with advanced and predictive analytics applied to business problems
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets
  • Python proficiency for analytics and insight generation
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience modernizing rule-based underwriting or decision systems
  • Familiarity with Snowflake and cloud-based data platforms
  • Executive reporting and strategic performance analysis experience
  • Ability to mentor junior analysts and promote best practices in data storytelling and analytics.
  • Understanding of enterprise data governance and reporting standards.
  • Active use of AI tools such as ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot for analytics productivity

Pay: The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Fractal, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is: $125,000 - $135,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.

Benefits: As a full-time employee of the company or as an hourly employee working more than 30 hours per week, you will be eligible to participate in the health, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans in accordance with the plan documents, which may be amended from time to time. You will be eligible for benefits on the first day of Employment with the Company. In addition, you are eligible to participate in the Company 401(k) Plan after 30 days of employment, in accordance with the applicable plan terms. The Company provides 11 paid holidays and 12 weeks of Parental Leave. We also follow a “free time” PTO policy, allowing you the flexibility to take the time needed for either sick time or vacation.
