We’re looking for a General Manager to join our team! You will look after our North Edmonton facility (Londonderry Mall) and a team of 10+ part time staff

About Our Company

We’re an entertainment based facility with a small (but growing!) chain of centers in Alberta. With one two locations in Edmonton and two in Calgary.

Our customers come to us for special occasions (Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, Youth Group Events) as well as for some casual fun. The majority are aged 6 to 12, but we also host many teens and adults.

Find out more about us at www.lasercity.ca

Our Values

  • Safety Always
  • Give a Sh!t
  • Fun and Exciting
  • Awesome Customer and Employee Experiences

About The Role The General Manager plays a key role in delivering outstanding experiences for our guests—ensuring we have the right team in place, with the right skills and tools, at the right time.

You’ll work closely with the senior leadership team and play an integral role in day-to-day operations. Unlike traditional retail or hospitality positions, this role is focused on cultivating a fantastic team environment, enhancing customer satisfaction, and maintaining a well-organized, safe, and welcoming space.

And most importantly—you should love working with kids, as they’re our biggest fans!

People Leadership Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor and develop your team
  • Ensure we have an amazing team! This means hiring part-time staff, including screening, interviewing, offers, forward planning, training etc
  • Have regular 1-on-1s with your team members
  • Maintain company culture through coaching, staff events, training, etc
  • Provide on-call support to staff members for in-progress situations
  • Create and publish schedules, including time off requests, shift swapping and emergency coverage

Operations Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with suppliers and contractors
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the head office team
  • Update data for reporting (NPS, KPIs, etc)
  • Oversee inventory levels

Customer Service

  • Handle unique booking inquiries
  • Investigate and follow-up on negative customer experience
  • Occasionally answer phone calls and emails from customer inquiries
  • Ensure staff are delivering a high level of customer service

Facilities Responsibilities

  • Ensure the facility is safe, stocked and presentable for customers
  • Perform regular inspections of the facility
  • Basic facility maintenance

Other Details / Requirements

  • This role is generally a Wednesday to Sunday schedule, but some flexibility is required. This will be based on out-of-hours bookings, staff availability and more. Some evening shifts will be required.
  • Experience working on your own and creating your own schedule
  • A vehicle and valid driver's license is required
  • 5+ years of retail management experience or equivalent is required
  • Experience scheduling 10+ employees
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Happy person with an uplifting attitude

Compensation

$60,000-75,000/yr depending on experience, company paid cell phone and laptop.

This is a very communication-heavy role, so if you send us a generic email that you send to everyone else, well, that probably won't look good. Also, be sure to mention if you're a cat or a dog person. We don't care (much), but it's a good way to tell if you actually read the instructions.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
