The posting

ABOUT FUSE

We are building one of the most potentially consequential companies of the century. Our mission is to accelerate the world's transition to fusion energy while safeguarding humankind. This is not a normal company. This is not a normal job. We are committed for the long term to win.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You'll own the day-to-day technology experience for every employee, from the laptop that shows up on someone's first day to the SaaS tools they use every hour. You'll work closely with our Security Engineer, who sets policy and standards; you'll be the one who implements, enforces, and supports them day to day. This is a hands-on, high-visibility role at a company small enough that your work is immediately felt by everyone, and structured enough that you're not building processes from zero.

WHAT WE VALUE

- Obsess about the details — sloppy work costs us later, so do it right the first time.

- Care — pick up the trash. Do things no one asks you to do. Go the extra mile because you care.

- Act with urgency — every hour matters more than it feels like it does.

- Be responsible for the outcome, not just the task; if it is not working, it remains your problem until it is fixed.

- Assume good intent — disagree openly, then commit fully once a call is made.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provision and deprovision accounts across IdP and various SaaS platforms for onboarding/offboarding.

- Configure and ship laptops/desktops to new hires; run new-hire IT orientation.

- Administer macOS and Windows MDM providers → enrollment, patching, compliance policies, app deployment.

- Administer IdP (SSO, groups, app assignments), collaboration platforms, licensing, etc.

- Serve as primary point of contact for day-to-day IT issues; triage and resolve tier 1/2 helpdesk requests, escalating as needed.

- Maintain and troubleshoot network gear (Wi-Fi, switches, basic firewall/VLAN configuration).

- Implement and enforce endpoint compliance and access policies defined jointly with the Security Engineer (e.g., MDM baselines, conditional access, MFA enrollment).

- Maintain IT documentation, SOPs, and asset inventory.

- Manage hardware/software procurement, license renewals, and vendor relationships for the IT toolset.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years in an IT Administrator, IT Support, or Systems Administrator role.

- Hands-on experience with an MDM tool (Kandji, Intune, Jamf, or similar).

- Working knowledge of an SSO/IdP platform (Okta or similar) — user/group management, app integrations, basic policy configuration.

- Experience administering Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Entra ID.

- Comfortable supporting both macOS and Windows environments.

- Basic networking knowledge — VLANs, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, DHCP/DNS fundamentals.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills for supporting non-technical employees.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience standing up or scaling IT processes at a company growing from ~50 to ~150+ employees.

- Direct experience with Ubiquiti/UniFi network equipment.

- Exposure to security fundamentals (MFA, conditional access, endpoint compliance) with interest in growing into security-adjacent work.

- Scripting ability (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) to automate provisioning, deprovisioning, or reporting.

- Experience supporting engineering-heavy environments (e.g., CAD workstations, lab or hardware equipment) alongside standard corporate IT.

- Experience building internal documentation that's actually used, not just written once and abandoned.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

- Availability to provide occasional support outside standard business hours for urgent issues (e.g., account lockouts, outages).

- Comfortable being the sole day-to-day IT resource, with escalation support from the Security Engineer for security-specific issues.

- Based in or willing to work from our San Leandro, CA office for hands-on device provisioning and hardware support.

- Occasional travel to other Fuse locations.

- Ability to lift/set up computer hardware (laptops, monitors, desktop towers) as part of onboarding and desk setups.

BENEFITS

- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.

- Relocation assistance for roles that require it.

- Flexible time off. Take what you need, no accrual tracking.

- 2 weeks of paid time off built into the end of each year (subject to team and business needs).

- 10+ paid holidays.

- Supportive leave of absence policies.

- Paid leave for new parents.

- Access to a 401(k) retirement plan.

- Meals provided on site at our San Leandro and Napierville facilities.

ITAR REQUIREMENTS

To conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
