Job Description Summary

Design Technology That Helps Save the Smallest Lives

Every day, neonatal caregivers around the world rely on GE HealthCare technology to care for premature and critically ill newborns. Behind every incubator, warmer, and connected care solution is a team of engineers solving complex thermal, structural, mechanical, and human-centered design challenges.

We're looking for a Senior/ Lead Mechanical Engineer to help develop the next generation of neonatal care products used in hospitals around the world. This is an opportunity to work on products that combine sophisticated engineering, meaningful clinical impact, and global scale.

If you enjoy solving difficult technical problems, collaborating across disciplines, and turning ideas into real products that improve lives, we'd love to talk with you.

Job Description

Why This Role Is Different

You'll help architect and develop products that must precisely regulate temperature, support critical clinical workflows, withstand years of demanding hospital use, and meet rigorous medical device requirements.

You'll work alongside software, electrical, systems, quality, manufacturing, human factors, and clinical experts to create solutions that directly impact patient outcomes.

This is an opportunity to:

  • Design products that directly impact newborn patient care
  • Solve complex thermal, structural, and electromechanical challenges
  • Influence product architecture and technical direction
  • Work across the full product lifecycle from concept through production
  • Grow your technical leadership skills while mentoring other engineers
  • Collaborate with global teams developing industry-leading healthcare technology

What You'll Do

  • Lead mechanical design activities from concept development through production launch
  • Develop innovative solutions for thermal, structural, and electromechanical systems
  • Create and review 3D models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
  • Guide engineering analyses including FEA, tolerance analysis, and thermal assessments
  • Drive Design for Excellence practices including manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and cost optimization
  • Participate in risk assessments, verification testing, and design validation activities
  • Partner closely with manufacturing teams to support design transfer and production readiness
  • Collaborate with software, systems, electrical, human factors, and clinical teams to develop integrated product solutions
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical reviews across multiple programs

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • 8+ years of product development experience
  • Experience designing complex mechanical systems for commercial products
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design fundamentals including CAD, GD&T, materials selection, and design for manufacturing
  • Experience supporting products through development, testing, and production

Experience In One Or More Of The Following Areas

Great engineers bring different strengths. Experience in several of the following areas is desirable:

  • Thermal system design and analysis
  • FEA and structural analysis
  • Injection-molded plastic design
  • Mechanisms and moving assemblies
  • Tolerance analysis
  • Verification and validation testing
  • Medical devices or other regulated industries
  • Risk management and design reviews
  • Technical leadership and mentoring

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Medical device development experience
  • Familiarity with design controls, risk management, or regulated product development
  • Experience working on products that integrate hardware, electronics, and software

Who Thrives Here

The most successful engineers on our team are:

  • Curious and driven to understand how things work
  • Comfortable diving into technical details while maintaining system-level perspective
  • Effective collaborators who enjoy solving problems with cross-functional teams

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
