Job Description

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features.

Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale.

The Role

Global Manufacturing Electrical & SDV is looking for innovators who thrive in tough challenges and are passionate about tackling meaningful work that will shape the future of the automotive industry. This isn’t a role for those looking for an easy path—it’s for those who embrace change, push through obstacles, and take ownership of complex problems. While there will be long days and moments that test your resilience, you’ll find purpose in your work, flexibility to prioritize your family, and the support of a people-first culture. If you’re ready to grow, thrive, and make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.

WHY: The purpose of this role is to ensure that vehicle designs are safe, manufacturable, ergonomic, and aligned with plant needs, enabling GM to deliver innovative, high-quality vehicles to our customers.

WHAT: As an Electrical Product Interface Engineer, you will represent manufacturing in Product Development by reviewing vehicle designs and defining assembly methods that meet manufacturing requirements and enable safe, efficient, buildable vehicles

HOW: This role collaborates with Product Engineering and assembly plants to evaluate static and dynamic studies, virtual and virtual-reality builds, ergonomics, and prototypes. It also contributes to design reviews, using plant experience and customer feedback to develop practical, buildable solutions.

Work Arrangement - Onsite

The successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Tech Center on a full-time basis. This role requires up to 30% domestic and international travel.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities):

· Evaluate product designs and advocate for manufacturing requirements with cross-functional stakeholders.

· Partner with Product Engineering, Global Manufacturing Engineering, Architecture Leads, and assembly plants to align requirements and resolve issues.

· Verify vehicle manufacturing requirements, manage deviations, and escalate issues when needed.

· Lead virtual studies, product reviews, PFMEA activities, and vehicle build events to identify manufacturing and ergonomic concerns.

· Develop build sequences, assembly processes, and tooling requirements that support safe, high-quality, cost-effective vehicle production.

· Foster a forward-thinking work culture that embraces change and navigates future organizational and industry challenges.

· Build and nurture strategic relationships across various functions including software, manufacturing, and program management to synergize efforts towards future innovations.

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

· Experience supporting a program launch with General Assembly or Final Assembly Plants.

· Knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering execution, tooling, and General assembly plant operations.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to communicate complex concepts and issues clearly to peers with varying levels of English proficiency.

· Strong VIS Mockup skills or the ability to learn software tools quickly.

· Knowledge of Vehicle Systems Manufacturing Engineering processes and GM systems, including MPS, VAA, ECR/EDGE, Auros, FIT, GLP, VDP, PRTS, and LMS.

· Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time, or as required.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.

The selected candidate will be required to travel on a regular basis (25-50%) for this role.

Relocation benefits are available for candidates who qualify under company policy.

This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
