Job Overview

Associate Director of Graduate Engagement & Experience (Programming), The University Office of Graduate Studies - Georgetown University.

Student experience and engagement are central to Georgetown University’s commitment to providing graduate students with a welcoming, supportive, stimulating, and vibrant environment. The Associate Director of Graduate Student Engagement & Experience leads programs, initiatives, and strategic partnerships that advance these priorities across the graduate student community.

Operating within the University Office of Graduate Studies (UOGS)’ satellite Office of Graduate Engagement and Experience at the Capitol Campus, the Associate Director collaborates with academic programs, schools, and campus partners to design and deliver high-quality programming, strategic initiatives, and communications that elevate the overall student experience for all Georgetown graduate and professional students.

The position’s primary programming portfolio focuses on delivering comprehensive, inclusive, and targeted events for all graduate students, including at the McCourt School of Public Policy, SCS students, MSB students, Public Health students and Berkley SON students, Law Center students, as well as students living at 55H St. Additionally, the Associate Director works in partnership with the Assistant VP for Graduate Student Engagement & Experience and liaises with the Capitol Campus student affairs office, to execute signature and legacy events, including UOGS Welcome Week activities (such as the Welcome BBQ, the All-Welcome Multicultural Mixer, University-wide Graduate Student Induction, Welcome-Week Resource Fair), educational sessions, and community-building initiatives throughout the academic year, culminating in the new year-end Graduate Ball. The Associate Director delivers end-to-end program leadership—encompassing concept development, project planning, budgeting, logistics, vendor and partner coordination, communications, event execution, evaluation, and continuous improvement—for all Capitol Campus initiatives, and assists with events integrated with the Hilltop Campus.

In collaboration with the Assistant Director for Graduate Student Engagement & Experience, the Associate Director oversees a portfolio of small- and large-scale student groups. Responsibilities include engaging with graduate student groups and organizations, building strong relationships with student leaders, guiding organizations through university policies, and supporting leadership development, programming, inter-group collaboration, and access to institutional resources. The Associate Director meets regularly with graduate students and campus stakeholders to identify emerging needs and translate feedback into responsive programs and actionable recommendations.

The Associate Director serves as a subject-matter expert on graduate student engagement, belonging, success, and well-being, identifying and overcoming barriers, advocates for graduate student priorities on university committees and working groups; and measures and communicates the impact of programs and initiatives. Where appropriate, the position also develops external partnerships with local, national, and international organizations to expand opportunities and support for graduate students.

Duties include but are not limited to:

In close collaboration with the Assistant VP, the Associate Director exercises independent judgment in leading programming and student group advising, while partnering closely with senior leadership on sensitive, high-profile, or university-wide initiatives.

  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing
