The posting

Google welcomes people with disabilities.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Experience in commodity management, sourcing, procurement, or materials management in the electronics industry.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing supplier relationships, including capacity planning, performance tracking, and proven success deploying supply chains with high technology products.
  • Proven technical proficiency in electronics supply chain processes in PCBs, PCBAs, interconnects, ICs, or other related electronics products.
  • Advanced analytical proficiency in demand/supply matching, capacity planning, scenario modeling, and bridging forecast gaps to mitigate component and raw material shortages.
  • Ability to identify and execute mitigation strategies for supply chain risks, such as capacity constraints or geopolitical challenges, using dual-sourcing or similar pipelines.

About the job

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Manage critical supplier relationships through geopolitical diversification such as Southeast Asia footprint strategy and establish secure dual-sourcing pipelines for highly constrained raw materials to guarantee uninterrupted supply for next-generation hardware platforms.
  • Develop supply chain diversification strategies and execute against those strategies for supply assurance.
  • Formulate analytical models to reconcile demand forecasts against supplier capacities, proactively resolving allocation deficits. Synthesize complex hardware demand forecasts against tier-1 fab and sub-tier material capacities to guide executive decision-making.
  • Partner with hardware design engineering, Design for Manufacturability (DFM), quality, and finance to align technology roadmaps with sourcing strategies. Drive cost modeling and total Cost of Ownership (TCO) optimization.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
