Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 7 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and working with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
  • 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
  • Experience with Sensor Fusion.
  • Experience with Signal Processing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence.

You will define the end-to-end system architecture and leverage sensors in the home to power the next generation of ambient intelligence. The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $262000 - $364000 (USD) + 25% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities

  • Drive the multi-year technical goal and strategy for intelligent signals, taking full accountability for the architecture and success of next-generation intelligence initiatives.
  • Define the overarching system architecture, leveraging on-device and in-home sensors to power advanced intelligence and ambient capabilities across our product lineup.
  • Advance deep technical innovation across both our hardware and software stacks, inspiring engineering teams to invent and deploy cutting-edge signal processing solutions.
  • Partner cross-functionally, working tightly with AI, hardware, software, and product teams to align on strategic roadmaps and ensure the cohesive deployment of intelligent features.
  • Act as the primary technical authority for the domain, guiding teams through complex technical pivots and fostering a culture grounded in technical excellence and user obsession.
