Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, Materials Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product design, process development, or manufacturing engineering in a camera hardware NPI environment.
  • Experience managing camera module manufacturing and yield optimization at tier-1 Contract Manufacturers (CM) or Original Design Manufacturers (ODM) in Vietnam or APAC region.
  • Experience with camera assembly processes, active alignment (AA), SMT, optical testing, and FPCB/VCM integration.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
  • Experience with optical testing (MTF, SFR calibration), cleanroom operations, and cosmetic/visual inspection setup.
  • Site-leadership experience at vendor facilities, driving multi-line production scaling, defect reduction, and technical risk management.
  • Proficiency with Statistical Process Control, Process Capability/Process Capability Index evaluations, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, and Design of Experiments methodologies.
  • Strong technical communication skills with a proven ability to present operational risks and progress reports to cross-functional engineering leads.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional technical readiness activities at Vietnam factory sites across NPI phases. Manage manufacturing process flows, line layouts, equipment calibration, Active Alignment (AA) tools, and implement yield optimization plans through Design of Experiments (DOEs).
  • Work closely with camera module integrators and key component vendors (VCM, lens, image sensors) at local facilities to optimize line manufacturability. Oversee supplier execution, conduct process audits, and drive engineering changes according to Google standards.
  • Review hardware design specifications with teams early in development. Conduct DFM reviews, identify manufacturing risks, evaluate waiver requests, and publish technical reports.
  • Implement Process Control Plans (PCP) and quality assurance frameworks at vendor facilities. Drive rigorous Failure Analysis and Corrective Action (FACA) investigations to resolve production defects, test errors, and field returns.
  • Monitor production statistics, test yield distributions, and operational metrics.
