Google welcomes people with disabilities.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Acoustic Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in consumer electronics hardware development and acoustic subsystems.
- 2 years of experience in technical program management, driving hardware programs through the full product development lifecycle (Proto, EVT, DVT, PVT) to mass production.
- 2 years of experience in building and managing program schedules, balancing technical constraints, budget, and launch dates.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in consumer hardware devices and optimizing existing or creating new processes to address team pain points.
- Knowledge of industry-specific technical knowledge of engineering principles and manufacturing processes, leaning towards consumer electronics or industries with tangible product development.
- Ability to influence others beyond immediate team, organization, work closely with engineers to navigate ambiguity and early stage technologies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment with evolving priorities, as well as prioritize tasks, manage key parts of multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to independently drive multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment, while focus on resolving technical bottlenecks
About the job
Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.
Responsibilities
- Work with the engineers to drive the design, development, and integration of the audio modules (e.g., speakers and microphones) from initial concept through mass production, balancing complex trade-offs between schedule, cost, acoustic performance, and user experience.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between audio acoustic engineering, audio Electrical Engineering (EE), Product Design (PD), system Engineering Program Manager (EPM), Module Reliability (mREL), etc, to ensure seamless hardware integration and performance of the audio modules.
- Synthesize technical data into clear status updates and stories for leadership, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned on key focus points and next steps.
- Act as the primary interface with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and part vendors to manage development budgets, dependencies, and production schedules.
- Identify technical bottlenecks and project risks, facilitating conflict resolution and developing mitigation strategies across engineering disciplines.
