Description

Role Summary

This is an opportunity to build expertise in asset valuation and asset-based lending through hands-on exposure to a wide range of businesses, industries and asset classes.

Working alongside experienced professionals, you will learn how to analyze inventory, machinery and equipment and assess their value in support of financing and other business transactions. As your experience develops, you will have opportunities to take on greater responsibility, work directly with clients and contribute to broader projects across the business.

The role combines financial and business analysis with real-world exposure to companies and their operations, including opportunities to conduct on-site inspections and provide insight into inventory and asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze inventory, machinery, equipment and other business assets to support valuation and appraisal engagements.
  • Prepare inventory analyses, asset valuations and appraisal reports for financial institutions, law firms, corporations and other clients.
  • Review and analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends, risks and key drivers of asset value.
  • Develop an understanding of clients’ businesses, industries, operations and inventory management practices.
  • Participate in on-site inspections to evaluate inventory, machinery and equipment.
  • Work closely with experienced analysts and merchants to develop valuation conclusions and client recommendations.
  • Support approximately 3–4 client engagements per month, typically working as part of a two-person team consisting of an analyst and merchant.
  • Work with companies ranging from approximately ¥2 billion to ¥100 billion in annual sales.
  • Develop relationships with clients and other stakeholders as your experience and responsibilities grow.
  • Contribute to broader team and company initiatives based on experience, interests and business needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Business-level Japanese proficiency, both written and spoken.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to understand businesses, industries and financial information and translate analysis into clear conclusions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong Excel skills, with the ability to work efficiently with large datasets. The role regularly involves analyzing datasets containing tens of thousands of rows.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple assignments and priorities.
  • Interest in asset valuation, corporate finance, lending, consulting or related areas.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
