Job Description Summary

For over forty years, HarbourVest has been home to a committed team of professionals with an entrepreneurial spirit and a desire to deliver impactful solutions to our clients and investing partners. As our global firm grows, we continue to add individuals who seek a collaborative, open-door culture that values diversity and innovative thinking.

In our collegial environment that’s marked by low turnover and high energy, you’ll be inspired to grow and thrive. Here, you will be encouraged to build on your strengths and acquire new skills and experiences.

We are committed to fostering an environment of inclusion that promotes mutual respect among all employees. Understanding and valuing these differences optimizes the potential of both the individual and the firm.

HarbourVest is an equal opportunity employer.

This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.

They will deliver HarbourVest’s investment solutions to institutional investors.

The ideal candidate is someone who is:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as analytical and quantitative skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Highly proactive and resourceful, demonstrating anticipation of needs, taking direction, and converting it into action without requiring significant oversight.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills, capable of operating independently, making thoughtful decisions and recognizing when to bring up or seek additional input.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, across multiple teams and levels of seniority, while handling multiple projects and contending priorities with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter, with a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity and genuine commitment to perfection and continuous improvement.
  • A team-first, low-ego demeanor, with a collaborative approach and willingness to roll up their sleeves and chip in wherever needed to support the broader team.
  • Strong client-service orientation, consistently prioritizing the client experience and understanding how their work contributes to the quality and responsiveness of our client relationships.
  • Ability to see the bigger picture and get to the heart of issues rapidly, while still maintaining strong attention to detail and execution.
  • Ability to connect individual assignments to broader client and commercial objectives, gaining insight into the “why” behind the work rather than simply completing tasks.
  • Adaptable and responsive, with the ability to shift between longer-term priorities and time-sensitive client or business development needs.
  • Personal and professional integrity of the highest order.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Teams, PowerPoint and Excel. Familiarity with Salesforce or CRM systems, and AI tools would be useful but is not required.

  • Develop expertise in HarbourVest's QIS and Lumina capabilities. Become an internal resource for the team. Support the use of these tools in client partnerships, both prospective and current.
  • Support LP due diligence and investor inquiries, coordinating across HarbourVest to capture information, handle results and ensure responses are complete, accurate and timely.
  • Learn and support the investor onboarding and subscription process for new commitments, developing an understanding of the steps and internal coordination required to move an opportunity from successful fundraising through closing.
  • Develop broad knowledge of the HarbourVest platform and its application to different client objectives. The Analyst will gain experience across private equity, private credit, and infrastructure. This includes primary, secondary, and co-investment strategies. They will also work with different implementation structures like closed-end commingled funds, evergreen vehicles, and tailored separately managed accounts.
  • Build a strong understanding of both the sales and relationship management processes. By working across BD and RM, the Analyst will see how institutional relationships progress from prospect development and conversion through long-term client coverage, retention and expansion.
  • Take increasing ownership over time. While initially an internally focused role supporting senior Business Development and Relationship Management professionals, the Analyst will have opportunities to assume greater responsibility and client exposure as their knowledge, judgment and experience develop.
  • Contribute broadly to the success of the US Investor Relations team, including other responsibilities and strategic projects as required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
