The posting

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We believe technology works best when it's reliable, well supported, and nearly invisible to the people using it. The Junior IT Support Specialist makes that possible by providing frontline technical support, deploying and managing devices, maintaining classroom AV, and helping the community use school technology with confidence.

This is a hands-on, service-oriented role grounded in troubleshooting, follow-through, and clear communication. The ideal candidate brings solid technical fundamentals, strong problem-solving instincts, patience with users at every level of technical comfort, and a real interest in growing their skills in enterprise IT. This position also supports faculty, staff, and students as they adopt school-approved AI tools and other emerging technologies. Experience supporting users in a school, higher-ed, or similarly fast-paced environment is a strong differentiator.

Harvard-Westlake is one of the nation's leading independent schools — and what makes us exceptional isn't just the students or the resources; it's the people. You'll join a community of smart, mission-driven colleagues who are genuinely invested in each other's growth and in building something meaningful together.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Help Desk and End-User Support

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for Help Desk requests, owning tickets from intake through resolution
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, printing, and connectivity issues for students, faculty, and staff
  • Escalate complex issues to systems, networking, or programming teams with clear documentation
  • Create and maintain knowledge base articles, how-to guides, and support procedures
  • Provide friendly, patient, and solutions-oriented support to users at all levels of technical comfort

Device Deployment and Endpoint Management

  • Prepare, image, and configure Windows and macOS devices for deployment
  • Assist with device enrollment, configuration profiles, app deployment, and compliance in Microsoft Intune and Jamf Pro
  • Maintain accurate inventory and asset records throughout the device lifecycle
  • Perform workstation setup, cable management, and hardware verification in classrooms and offices

Accounts, Access, and Infrastructure Support

  • Coordinate user accounts, groups, permissions, and MFA in Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365
  • Support onboarding and offboarding for employees and students
  • Perform basic Wi-Fi and wired network diagnostics, escalating as appropriate
  • Support the rollout and everyday use of school-approved software and AI tools

AV and Classroom Technology

  • Maintain and troubleshoot classroom AV systems, including projectors, displays, conferencing systems, and audio
  • Support AV setup and operation for school events, assemblies, and meetings
  • Respond quickly to classroom technology issues to minimize disruption to instruction

Community Responsibilities

  • Travel regularly between Harvard-Westlake's campuses to provide on-site support
  • Support select early morning, evening, or weekend events and projects as needed
  • Help train and guide student and intern technicians
  • Participate in school events, retreats, advisory, lunch supervision, professional development days, and community programming as appropriate to the role
  • Collaborate across departments and campuses in support of the school's mission and the broader life of the school.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
