The posting

Hypebeast is a leading global platform for contemporary culture and lifestyle, and a premier destination for editorially-driven news and commerce. Founded in 2005, it became a publicly listed company in 2016, and today boasts a global readership across North America, Asia Pacific, Europe and more. The Group has expanded its publishing brands to a wider scope, encompassing Hypebeast and its multiple content distribution platforms, creative agency Hypemaker, and e-commerce and retail platform HBX.

Hypegolf explores golf through the lens of contemporary culture, style and community. We are looking for a commercially minded Brand Director to lead its global brand and business development.

Reporting to the head of Hypebeast Media, you will translate Hypegolf’s positioning into compelling content, experiences, partnerships and consumer offerings. Working with editorial, creative, production and regional commercial teams, you will be accountable for business performance and consistent brand execution across markets.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Hypegolf’s brand direction and business planning, setting clear priorities, budgets and performance goals.
  • Manage business performance, including revenue, profitability and effective use of resources.
  • Maintain a consistent global brand identity while adapting programmes and partnerships to local audiences with regional teams.
  • Partner with the editorial lead to ensure content and programming reflect a distinctive, credible perspective on golf.
  • Work with regional commercial teams to develop, secure and deliver sponsorships, partnerships and other commercial opportunities.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of events, community programmes and brand activations.
  • Guide merchandise, collaborations and other consumer offerings alongside internal specialists and external partners.
  • Strengthen audience and customer relationships across content, events and commerce.
  • Develop relationships with golf brands, courses, venues, players, creators and community leaders.
  • Coordinate shared teams and external partners to deliver programmes on time, within budget and to a consistent standard.
  • Use insight into golfer needs, cultural developments and market performance to inform decisions.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in brand management, business development or commercial leadership within golf, sport, lifestyle, consumer brands or specialist media.
  • Demonstrated accountability for revenue, budgets and commercial results.
  • First-hand involvement in golf through playing and active engagement with its community. A practical understanding of the game, golfer needs and contemporary golf culture is essential; no specific handicap is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working across markets and cultures, translating global brand direction into locally relevant commercial execution. Experience spanning North America and Asia is strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing commercial partnerships and delivering consumer-facing programmes, events or brand initiatives.
  • Strong brand judgment and an understanding of how content, experiences and products contribute to a cohesive brand.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with editorial and creative teams while maintaining commercial accountability.
  • Working knowledge of consumer products, retail or e-commerce; merchandise or collaboration experience is an advantage.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication and project management skills.
  • A hands-on approach and the ability to deliver through shared teams and external partners in an entrepreneurial environment.

If you think you’ve got what it takes, please provide your cover letter, CV, portfolio and expected salary.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
