Build, Automate and Transform Modern Delivery Platforms
At IBM Consulting FutureNow, we're helping clients modernise how technology is built, deployed and operated. We're looking for DevOps Engineers to join our growing team, working across large-scale transformation programmes in some of the UK's most complex and security-conscious environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll help build modern cloud platforms, automate software delivery, improve operational reliability and embed security into the development lifecycle. You'll work alongside developers, architects, security specialists and client teams to solve challenging technical problems while continuously developing your own skills and expertise.
We're interested in capable engineers with a passion for automation, cloud technologies and continuous improvement. You don't need to have experience with every tool listed below. If you have a solid DevOps foundation and enjoy learning new technologies, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
As a DevOps Engineer, you will:
- Design, build and support modern cloud and platform solutions.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Build, improve and support CI/CD pipelines to enable secure and reliable software delivery.
- Implement and maintain containerised solutions using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Embed DevSecOps principles throughout cloud infrastructure, applications and deployment pipelines.
- Implement monitoring, logging and observability solutions to improve service reliability and performance.
- Automate operational processes and reduce manual effort through scripting and tooling.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary delivery teams and client stakeholders.
- Contribute to technical best practice, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
- Support the delivery of solutions within highly regulated and security-conscious environments.
We're looking for experience in several of the following areas:
- Experience working in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering or similar role.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as: - GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code approaches, including Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
- Experience working with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of cloud platforms including AWS, Azure and/or Google Cloud.
- Experience scripting and automating tasks using Python, Bash, PowerShell or similar languages.
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging and observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk or Datadog.
- Understanding of security principles and how they apply throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
- Experience working with Git-based source control and collaborative development practices.
- Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working within consulting, public sector or regulated environments would be advantageous.
Security Requirements
This role is subject to successful completion of pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Depending on the client and assignment, additional National Security Vetting (NSV) may be required, including eligibility for Enhanced Security Check (eSC) or Enhanced Developed Vetting (eDV).
One or more of the following certifications would be beneficial:
