IBM has openings for Analog Design Interns to be part of the team that is responsible for delivering our high speed SERDES interfaces for IBM Power and Z microprocessors in advanced 3nm technologies and beyond.

Possible roles and responsibilities:

  • Help your new team transition the high-speed IO architecture from NMZ to PAM4 in support of future IBM microprocessors.
  • Use a combination of industry standard and IBM proprietary tools to design, simulate, and layout your circuits.
  • Have an opportunity to work on transmitter, receiver, PLL, or other analog designs.
  • Learn what it takes to develop and deliver complex analog circuits for IBM products.
  • Perform schematic level design using Cadence design tools
  • Perform in-depth circuit analysis using Spectre and spice simulators
  • Analyze the design for manufacturability and end of life requirements
  • Develop various scripts to parse data using languages like Python
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Relevant Circuit Design course with applied experience in circuit design
  • Use of Cadence and Spice tools
  • Understanding of VHDL, Python, Perl, TCL
  • Pursuing a degree in MS in Electrical Engineering with a specialty in Analog Circuit Design
  • Relevant Analog Circuit Design course
  • Understanding of Interface terminology such as NMZ, PAM4, CTLE, DFE, PLLs, RX, TX and how these work within a High-Speed interface
