Job Description

CNC Machine Operators

Love seeing how things get made? As a CNC Machine Operator apprentice, you'll set up and run mills, lathes, and other CNC machines to produce high-precision parts, building real shop-floor skills while you complete your training.

What you'll do:

  • Set up mills, lathes, and other CNC machines by selecting, aligning, and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials
  • Read blueprints, drawings, specs, or sample parts to understand dimensions, tolerances, and the order of operations
  • Install the right tooling from the tooling list, then enter and verify tool offsets
  • Start and monitor machine runs, catch malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust controls as needed
  • Check finished parts against specs using calipers, micrometers, and depth micrometers, with a working familiarity with CMM, GD&T, and SPC
  • Flag process issues to your supervisor so they can be investigated
  • Complete the paperwork and computer entries that keep production on track

What you'll bring:

  • Ability to operate vertical/horizontal mills, lathes, or Swiss machines
  • A troubleshooting mindset and the ability to make basic adjustments and changes to machinery
  • 1+ years of experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bonus points for a 2-year machining degree and metalworking experience

Welders

Take pride in a clean, precise weld? As a Welder apprentice, you'll TIG and orbital weld stainless steel and other high-purity materials, gaining hands-on experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment while you complete your welding training.

What you'll do:

  • Weld stainless steel and other high-purity materials, both by hand with a TIG welder and with an orbital welding machine
  • Study prints, drawings, and specs to lay out tasks and complete finished welds using specialized computer welding equipment
  • Process and inspect your work to print
  • Perform a sequence of operations while consistently meeting quality and output standards
  • Follow Ichor's Standard Operating Procedures for all manufacturing duties
  • Pitch in on other duties as assigned

What you'll bring:

  • Completion of a 2-year professional trade program in Welding Technology (or equivalent), or current enrollment in one
  • 1–2 years of experience TIG welding stainless steel, or less experience with a Welding Technology degree (or current enrollment in a Welding Technology degree program)
  • 1–2+ years of manufacturing or related work experience; semiconductor industry preferred
  • Experience working in a high-purity cleanroom environment
  • Blueprint reading and weld-to-print skills, plus the ability to read and understand technical drawings, correspondence, and documents
  • Solid math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, percentages, and decimals
  • Basic understanding of related mechanics, flow control elements, and MRP concepts
  • Basic PC skills for manufacturing
  • Mechanical aptitude, visual acuity, and manual dexterity
  • Confidence using approved hand gauges to inspect component quality at the work center
  • Ability to handle fragile products, perform repetitive tasks, and work with safety in mind
  • Good judgment, discretion, and an eye for spotting deviations from accepted practices
  • Clear verbal and written communication with supervisors, leads, and peers
  • A commitment to quality and a customer-focused mindset, both internally and externally

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
